OMG I'm so glad that you and Chloe are okay What a nightmare!!!!! That was quick thinking on your part, and thank goodness that the other lady was there to help. I wonder if there shouldn't be seperate parks altogether for large and small dogs. Perhaps the fence should be higher?!

I don't think banning pits would even work, they type of owner they seem to attract (not ALL, but a lot it seems) doesn't much care what the law says I think that there should be some kind of license you have to have, after some training and testing, to have any really large breed. Then they should be made to purchase insurance on their dogs in case something bad like this happens, with decreases in the premiums every year that there is no problem. Maybe being hit in their wallets would make them think twice about owning an agressive breed of dog, and I don't care what anyone says, pits are one of those breeds. I have known a few sweet pits in my time, however they had GREAT owners who trained them well and they were very submissive. My Starr used to be great buddies with a pit owned by a friend of mine, and she'd roll onto her back and let Starr "beat her up". What a site that was! She also had a Rottie friend that was the same way.

But one day when my daughter (who was 9 at the time) and her friend were walking Starr on her leash and the neighbor's pit came charging out of it's garage (no leash!) and snatched her I heard screaming and came running out to see my Starr in the mouth of that dog, and the girls terrified. The owner of the pit had come out by then and got the dog to drop Starr, and then she ran into our house and I couldn't find her. Finally I found her under my bed, she was bleeding from cuts by her front legs and her belly. Rushed her to the vet, and thank God she was okay, just needed stitched up. I called Animal Control on them (my husband didn't want to cause trouble b/c they are neighbors, but I told him screw off, I'm calling!) The owner was very apologetic, but at the same time he was whining about how he couldn't keep his dog off leash because of this! Then he told me that this same dog had already attacked another Yorkie, that she "hates" small dogs. Jerk! We started building our fence the following week. I don't allow my dd and I don't walk my girls around here anymore. That dog still is there and his jerkoff brother has two of the same kind right across the street from me and has threatened to let his dogs eat my dogs if he ever sees them outside. Scares me to death, since Izzy can get out through the fence and my hubby doesn't always pay close enough attention. Anyway I guess my point is, I've been on both sides of this debate and there really isn't an easy solution

Dalmations bite more than pits do, yet no one talks of banning them, ya know? It's not the breed, it's the owner. I'm so glad that everything turned out okay for you and Chloe, whew!!! Scary!

i am glad she is ok also wow !!!!! glad that dog got taken away! i still havent made up my mind if i like dog parks, i took the dogs onch on the small dog side and there were some bigger dogs that i think shouldnt have been there. and the fence they put up lacey could have walked right through it. and the big dog fence was short and they could have jumped it.

I kicked the Pitt Bull in the face and he ran after me and luckily a lady next to me threw a garbage can at I'm and I kicked him again hard enough to KO him. The owner came running at me and the police where called ON ME by the owner. Needless to say the dog was confiscated by animal control and the owner was fined. Me and the other lady where not charged with anything and the poor little pug needed to goto the emergency room, I dunno how he is but he was bit pretty bad. From what I know the lady who owns the Pitt Bull is a regular and she is a well know and respected breeder and her dog just went crazy for some reason. I'm so glad Chloe didn't get hurt at all, she is all of 5lbs and that Pitt Bull was huge.

I'm sick of the ignorance on this breed. Pitt Bulls need to be banned.
I so agree with you. Pittbull's are unpredictable and they should stop breeding them. It should be mandatory that they be castrated by law if they are going to become a family pet. Otherwise they should be contained only for industrial guard dogs and police dogs. Fighting breeds should not be in homes and parks with other dogs or children.

First and foremost I am so glad that you and Chloe are OK...and I feel so bad for the poor little pug...I hope he/she is OK..keep us posted. So glad that charges were not pressed against you...you and Chloe were the heroes of the day and the nerve of that owner trying to get the police to charge you....I would have done the same thing to protect my baby and that pug.

Second, as much as I always try to understand the pitt and rott (that not all are bad) I see a posting or news/TV article on attacks by these dogs. I just don't like them and I'm always scared when I come across one no matter what their owner says. Izzy wouldn't have a fighting chance with a big dog attacking (not even 3#)....so we never go to the dog park and when we do go for our walks if I see a big dog coming our way - I scoup her up and cross the street. I just can't or won't take that chance. Sad that us with small dogs can't even take our babies to the dog park anymore.

How do you ever go on after something like this! What an awful
tragedy.

I am so glad Chloe was not injured or you too. You both are very brave.
Yes, these little ones really do think
they can conquer the world on their own. They really have no idea
how small they are. I do pray that pug will be ok. Poor dog.

I remember when I lived in Texas I used to own an Australian shepherd cross with collie, she was small to medium dog but puppy then. We put down food for her. A big pitbull run into our yard and he started to eat her food, she tried to eat as well from the same bowl. The pitbull bit her in the eye she ran off crying. We chased the pitbul out of our yard. He looked really dangerous since he attacked the innocent dog. Push's eyes swell off and we took her to vet, he said it didn't need stitches. It frightened me though. I am not a fun of large powerful breeds.
Not so long ago a Rotweiller snatched a baby boy from a ten-year-old girl's hand here in Britain, the baby died and police shot the dog. They said it was a good dog and there was never problems with him, he just went nuts. It's hard to trust such dogs and they should always be tied and have a basket on their faces to protect others against bite. Some breeds just can't be trusted, and I feel it goes down to owners as well.

When I was twelve years old, I took my dog (a poodle) for a walk down my street. A German shepard jumped the fence and grabbed on to Fluffy and wouldn't let go. I was so young, I couldn't do anything but scream. The owner finally came out and after a few minutes got his dog to let go of Fluffy. The German Shepard bit his owner in the hand and the owner tried to sue us saying Fluffy had bit him. As soon as Fluffy hit the ground, he took off running home and went straight under the kitchen table. We took him to the vet and the result was 55 stiches in his back and all of his teeth had been knocked out. Although Fluffy lived another 10 years, I still can't walk a dog. We found out later that the German Shepard had done the same thing to another white dog just the year before. Apparently, the German shepard had been bit by a small white dog when he was a puppy and developed a complex against small white dogs.

I'm glad things turned out well for you....I know how bad these types of situations can be.

i was attacked by a standard poodle when i was 11....i was walking with my bike on the sidewalk when this huge dog ran out of its front door..opened the screen/storm door on its own and ran out and attacked me and bit my leg. I went home bleeding crying and my dad drove me back went up to the door with me and told the lady that her dog attacked me, and i was just an innocent pedestrian on the sidewalk. All she said was " he doesnt like bikes".....

I have a scar to prove it. Nowdays someone would sue for that.

OMG Chloe!!! That poor baby. She's so brave and THANK GOD she wasn't hurt. I feel bad for that poor Pug.

I don't care how well respected of a breeder that woman who owned the Pit Bull is ... if she can't control her animals, she has NO BUSINESS OWNING THEM!! SHAME ON HER!!

Chloe and that poor Pug could have been seriously injured or worse, killed ... and YOU too could have been seriously hurt. Luck was on your side that day.

Give your brave little Chloe kisses from me.

Default my yorkies also attacked by pitbull

My two yorkies were walking with me on a leash on the road where I live when they (we) were attacked by a pitbull......I screamed so loud and finally the man that owns it came out and pulled it off us...

He paid all the doctor bills (husband went over there with the bill)...but I still just keep my babies in our fenced yard. We do go to the beach for long walks, but husband is with us....Especially after that poor woman was killed in the park in Georgia when walking her dog...

can't be too safe....

There are a lot of irresponsible owners out there. The owner should not have had her dog unleashed near small dogs and unattended on top of that. It drives me nuts how unaccountable people act. I get embarrassed if my dog even growls at another dog.
I had my dog on a leash at an outdoor shopping area when a woman with a jack russel passed by and let her dog near mine. My puppy is quite scared when any dog approaches him (working on better socialization). I ask her if her dog is friendly and she says yes while my mom who was luckily with me saw the jack russell about to take a bit into my baby and stepped in between. She was ready to kick that dog. The owner of the jack russell just smiled and looked goofy and did nothing to control her dog.
I guess if my mom ended up kicking her dog she would have likely called the cops too on us.
It was quite lucky you took action quickly to kick that other dog.

Default pitt Bull attacked Chloe

You are both brave, glad you are both safe. Seems that they would ban that dog from the park.

Default KO?

Did you actually knock the dog out? That would be amazing! I would have freaked out. I am so scared of Pitts, Rotts, and Doberman's. I have been since I was a small child. I have been known to jump on my car even when one is walking on a leash by me! A rott use to walk by my house. The owner was a tiny little asian young woman. The rott walked her! The dog would drag her to our fence (where my 2 bigger dogs stay a lot) and try to attack my dogs through the fence. The lady could do nothing. It also got out on Halloween one night and the whole neighborhood of kids had to go into people's houses until it was recovered. It would have attacked a kid if it could have. It was crazy!

What a scare. I'm so glad that no one was fatally injured.
