Carsickness Does anyone's dogs suffer from this like Carson does? It started way back when i first brought him home...He ALWAYS vomits when we go for a car ride. I've tried not not feeding him before we go, and that doesn't help. It's gotten to where i don't take him much, and i know he would love to go! He's loves adventures....if we could just bypass the ride. he's not stressed in the car...but after a half hour or so, he always gets sick. Then he's fine. Crating him in the car doesn't help, cuz then he gets all dirty stepping in it, and I can't always bathe him when we get to our destination. So....does anyone have a remedy that really works? thanks! deb

Pikko gets sick during a car ride if no one is holding him. If he's sitting next to me, he'll feel motion sickness. When we were going to PetSmart once, he threw up right on his blanket. Luckily he was sitting on his blanket. Otherwise, he woulda thrown up all over my mom's new car! I think I'll have to buy a box of gingersnaps! Thanks for the suggestion!

I tried the ginger snaps with the biewer I rehomed, nothing worked..the lady that has her now says she does fine in the car..she put her little bed in the back seat and that's where she rides all the time now..they do have meds you can give them for it also, also the vet said you could give some benadryl a little bit before you have to go somewhere with him too..

It could be the whole country road thing. Our private drive in is 1 miles of gravel road....potholes and all. I try to avoid them, but you know ..... Also the other place I've taken him is to our property...it's a 45 minute-hour long drive...and he probably gets sick from the get go since we have to drive on the private road to get out of our current place. once we arrive he recovers, but then we deal with it again on the way home. I don't want to do benadryl. deb

| Ginger Snaps work very well for Ellie. I give her 1/2 - 1 cooke before we leave. Chachi, any grocery store should have them. Archway makes good ones. Maybe they will ship to you.

My Bichon used to get sick every time we drove up to Canada....12 hr. trip. I asked the vet what I could do. She just was so miserable. He told me to give her a 1/2 of a childrens motion sickness pill. I have used drimamine and Bonnie tables. I give her 1/4 the night before we leave and the other 1/4 the morning we leave and it has worked wonders!!! She can now travel in her car seat which she loves!!! You may want to talk to your vet and see if this will work for you. Good luck!!!

I think you should continue not to feed him when you take him for a ride. I would suggest a short ride each day. Perhaps an hour is to much at this time. Also, you may want to check with the vet to see if there is any motion sickness medication you may want to keep on hand. Lots of good luck!
