| Silly questions Hi guys, I'm new to this site and to being a yorkie owner. I have had Duke now for 4 months. My question is kinda silly, but I need to ask it. Is it normal for them to have hair growing inside their years? If so, do I need to have it trimmed, cause its starting to get long. Also, does anyone else's yorkie get what I call, eye boogers, alot. Duke constantly gets them and he hates it when I tried to wash them off. Silly questions I know, but hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks Nicole |

| Hello and welcome. You can clean the guck that is around their eyes off with warm water. The inside of the ears need to be trimmed or plucked.

| Our groomer plucked the hair from the ears and also shaved around his eyes. Since he has been groomed, his eye boogers are few and far between! |

| Hi Nicole and welcome to YorkieTalk. Your questions aren't silly at all. The hair in the ears should be plucked to prevent wax buildup and infections. If you get Duke groomed the groomer will do it. Or you can do it yourself. If you'd rather not then you can run him in to the vet and they can do it in a snap and you can get his toenails trimmed then too. About the hair between the eyes and eye boogers (gross term but it describes it well), I like to keep Bo's fair hair trimmed up with scissors. The groomer does it. It's trimmed in sort of a fan shape between his eyes. When the hair there starts to get messy I either wash it with warm water or use a fine tooth flea comb to comb the crud out. Bo is actually pretty good about letting me do this. His hair is really thick and grows fast and I found that when the hair was shaved there, as it grew out it seemed to poke him in the eye. It would be interesting to see how many shave and how many keep it trimmed...hmmm, I think I'll post a poll.
