| Thanks for your post . I had no idea either and Kassies water bowl is stainless but her food bowl is plastic. I will replace the food bowl now that I know.

| Thank You for sharing this information. I didn't know this either! Peanut had a double plastic bowl but it was washed everyday when I ran the dishwasher. I won't take any chances again though and I'll get the stainless steel bowls.

I have only used ceramic bowls for years since I found out how plastic harbors bacteria. | |

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | This may sound strange but I use paper plates for their food so no chances of bacteria as they get a new plate every meal. I use stainless bowls for water. Good reminder!

| I use Corningware dishes...the ceramic ones you'd use for pot pies. They are made in the USA, Connecticut I think. We do have a plastic spill-less bowl and Loki has a plastic Brake-Fast bowl for kibble but those go through the dishwasher sanitation cycle all the time so I'm not worried. It's not like he chews on his bowl, in fact neither have a scratch on them.

| Thanks for posting....I have a question.....This is going to sound snobbish....Please don't laugh.... My boys' food and water bowls are Crystal bowls....This should be safe right???? I put them them in the dishwasher every night and put them back down in the mornings.... Hubby laughs at me all the time.....But I found this beautiful crystal on sale...They had 2 bowls left in this particular pattern...So I got them..... Joyce

| Sadly most ceramic dog bowls are made in China. That's why the ceramic ones I use are Corningware.
