DON'T use plastic dog bowls Just a warning out not to use plastic dog bowls on your babies. Some or many may already know this, but the they tell you not to use them because they can carry bacteria. When the plastic is scratched the bacteria gets down in it and even when cleaned it can stay and cause problems on your babies face. They are called like a topical bacteria infection. Can be around the month, nose and even in the ears if they get in the bowl. I was just talking to someone about this today and they didnt even know this and I got to thinking...maybe others dont too. Use the stainless steal or the porcelain kind.:) |

Also, if it's a porcelain one make sure it's not from China. They sometimes use paint with lead on a lot of things and it's not worth the risk. I have stainless steel. |
Thanks for letting us know. I didn't know that,, i use stainless steal and porcelain but in my bf's house he has the plastic ones, so we will throw those out and get new ones. |
my old roommate used to use plastic bowls for her cat and OMG they were nasty! She never washed them....the food bowl was greasy from the kibble and the water bowl had brownish-red gunk all over it...yuck. He normally drank out of the water bowl I keep downstairs |
oh did not know that . . .Tiger uses a stainless steel bow whilst Annika uses my corelle mini saucer :) Does this apply to water bowls too? I have 2 water feeders that have stainless spouts :thumbup: but Annika drinks from a plastic bowl when I am not home as she is stays on my counter during the day :rolleyes: |

Both of mine have glazed ceramic bowls and stainless steel water bowls. |
hey thanks! I didnt know that and I use the heavy plastic ones.... Time to go shopping:) I want one of those cute, pink ceramic ones but i never bought it cuz i knew she already had bowls had couldnt bring myself buy it.... so now I can :thumbup: |
I'm going to get the stainless steal ones. I put our plastic one in the dishwasher and have always used the plastic. But, I know that Guinness is a sensitive breed so I'm not taking chances :) |
Mine all have either stainless steel bowls or porcelain bowls. I haven't bought them plastic bowls for a long time because I have known of the bacteria issues. Also many dogs may be allergic to plastic. When my cocker Peppi had a plastic bowl years ago her chin broke out in bumps, she was allergic to the bowl. However their water is in a plastic bowl sort of. They have a water fountain that is constantly running and filtering their water, they only come in plastic. I still sterilize it and clean it out twice a week but hopefully since it filters the water it won't be the same as a regular plastic bowl.:confused: |

Thanks for posting this. When I had read about this previously and decided then to switch over ALL our bowls and dishes my husband could not understand my worry, but after reading your post he is now more inclined to believe that it is harmful to our little ones. Thank you .... |
