Is my puppy full Yorkie?! Help! 4 Attachment(s) I feel so perplexed. After thinking about what kind of pup I'd want for over a year, I knew I wanted a yorkie when the time was right. My boyfriend and I got our puppy late December from this older couple who had a litter of 4 puppies. They said that it was their dog's first and last time having babies so they're not breeders, but I think they said their daughter was. Anywhoo, their ad said the pups were yorkies and didn't mention that they were mixed. They also told me they were AKC reg but wouldn't give out papers because they didn't want breeders. In retrospect, I should have asked to see the papers but we simply didn't know better - that, and they really seemed sincere and I trusted that. When I took Jamie to the vet yesterday, I saw another yorkie pup there and saw just how different he looked to him. I asked the doc as well, and he didn't think he was full either. I'm so confused and upset - we spent a good deal on him as well. His face nor his body isn't as square and taut, and I was told his ears stand up too much to be a yorkie. Either way, I love this pup, but if he is mixed, I feel like I should know with what. Here's a few pictures I just took of him, we'd really appreciate your input and what you make of all this. Thanks! |
you didnt see the parents? maybe chihuahua also but someon else maybe know alot more than me |
Yorkies ear stand up straight (or are suppossed to) so that is normal and desired. There are a lot of variations on the look of yorkies, so really, they don't all look "alike" anyway. As far as papers go, they could have registered with akc as limited, so they either didn't know better or lied to you about that. She is darling and as long as you are happy with her, it shouldn't really matter. I do understand paying for something and not getting what you paid for though. |
He looks like a yorkie to me...but you never know. Honestly, yorkies are so overbred now that most don't meet the standard and are hard to recognize as yorkies. My baby has a coarser coat than she should and it grows very slow. I wouldn't trade her for the world though. I'll be much more careful in the future though to make sure I get a yorkie that meets the standard. Whether he's purebred or not, meets the standard or not, he's your baby and all you can do is love him :) |
well said and he does look yorkie! |
All I can say is......He is a cutie! :animal-pa |
I did see the parents briefly, but most of the adult yorkies i've seen have long hair, and the hair was cut fairly shorter than what I'd been seeing, so it was hard for me, (the inexperienced eye!) to tell. When we got him, his face was a little more square than it is now too. I do love him no matter what, though, and you are right~ that is def. what counts in the end. |
Take a look around this site and you will see so many different looks, shapes, sizes...:p Your baby is absolutely adorable.:D |
I think he is beautiful...I think he looks Yorkie to me but others might think differently. Question. Are you selling him? I seen a picture up of him before recently for sale. |
