| chocolate yorkies I have a litter of Yorkie pups 3 1/2 weeks old and 2 of them are breaking a reddish-brown on top of their heads. Also, their noses and foot pads are not black but are lighter. They look like they will be chocolates but were born black and tan. Does anyone know to what degree chocolates vary in color as I have seen pictures of chocolate newborns and they were light at birth. Any info on chocolates in general would be appreciated as I have never had chocolate pups before. |

| The only litters of chocolates I have seen were very obviously chocolates from the get go. I imagine there could be some variations to that though.

| You should PM Yorkydiva...she breeds chocolate yorkies. Your don't sound like chocolates to me...they are born a brown-ish color, they have amber eyes, and cinnamon-pink pigment

| I belive they have to be born chocolate they can aquire a redish coat ,But born black and tan that is what they are. Some chocolates I have seen do not have the amber eyes and their noses are almost black .Usually the pads of their feet will be a off color also. |

| Thanks for the link but I already own the book and have not read anything that decribes the color break I am seeing in these pups. Guess I'll have to wait a biit longer to see how they develop. I am a hobby breeder and have seen a giood many pups but never this color break. In any case, they are gorgeous and am very excited to have them. |

| Woogie man, you can go to the nursery and look at my Chocolates thread to see my Chocolate babies from birth. I will post another picture on there so it will bump up to page one again. And please post pictures of your new litter on this thread, so we can all see what you are talking about. The above link someone posted looks like some really good info for you. |
