Dorkies Has anyone heard of a Dachshund and a Yorkie being breed and called a Dorkie? I didn't know if my sister was kidding or not so I thought I'd ask the experts. |
I have heard of that, she wasn't kidding, but I have never seen it. Seems an odd combination. |
I've heard of it to, had to laugh when I read the name the first time I ever read about one, I thought, good Lord, my son would have a ball calling one of them "Dorkie" if we ever owned one, lol. |
LOL yes, I heard that a lot of people call dachshund/yorkie mixes "dorkies" :p I just think that is hilarious LOL...that and "chiweenie" haha. The silly names people come up with |
I saw one the other day- it was colored like a yorkie- and really looked like one- but it's coat was not was not going to be as thick or long- it was little and it was cute! |
i hope not ..that would look odd... funny though I call Gizmo my little dorkie when im baby talking to him but he is all yorkie...100%..... now i think i should be careful and not call him this in public.. people might think thats what dorkies look like.... little do they know.. hee hee |
A guy at my office just bought one like 2 weeks ago. He is very cute, very welled mannered and a joy to have aroung. His face, with a smidge longer muzzle, looks like a yorkie, hair coloring & texture like a yorkie but long short body like a daschaund. |
any1 have pics of dorkies im soo curious to see one now lol |

3 Attachment(s) oki now i got them uploaded sorry |
Here's a link to show what they might look like. Personally I think my Chorkie (chihuahua/yorkie), Duchess in my avatar is a Cutie. BUT some people don't like any mixes. It's all what you like. I have seen the chiwennies and they are cute. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/dorkie.htm It also depends on which parent is which breed. I have seen some chorkies that look more like chihuahua because dad was a chihuahua. I was told they tend to look more like dad. |
Yes! Sal is one. He is a dorkie they can be very expensive it depends on the breeder and what they charge. If the breeder is a register with the American Canine Hybrid Club then they will cost more. Sal brother was sold for $750.00 his sisters were sold for $800.00-$850.00. I was very lucky that the lady sold him very cheap.:yorkietal :yorkiesar Check out his website www.myspace.com/s002 |
There are some many hyrid breeds of yorkies at I just can not count them all. |
We just saw a Dorkie the other day. His name was Oscar! He was very cute! |
3 Attachment(s) Here are pics of the one I was telling you about earlier... I meant to say he has shorter LEGS and longer body  This is Ralphy :D a grown up version of a Dorkie |
Dorkies are NO dorkies!! lol :D ... a friend of mine rescued one about two years ago! He's a smarty! |
i have seen a yorkie/dapple dachsun mix and it was ADORABLE!!! |
Yes Virginia, there is a Dorkie LOL! :) Yes there is a breed called a Dorkie now. I have had my Yorkies for 35 years now, and when one of my little girls passed away, I got a mini doxie, and then another and I still have my Little "Bogie" my yorkie. I have a litter of Dorkies now, and have 3 left. They are adorable and bring out the best of both. They get the longer doxie bodies, and can be either smooth coat to medium and long coat, but not AS long as a Yorkie can get. generally get between 3-8 lbs. I have 2 that MAY make it to 5lbs if that and one larger boy that takes after mamma and will get 8-10 I am guessing. Bogie is only 3 lbs and Crickett is 8 lbs both black and tan, as are all the pups. :aimeeyork |

"Dorkie" That is a new breed to me. I noticed some of them have a lot of Yorkie in them, and some of them have the big ears like the Dachounds .So cute. |

I almost got a dorkie. my husband is always acting goofy so I call him a dork. He says well what does that say about you for marrying me. I said well I guess that means I love dorks. So when I ran across dorkies on the internet I wanted one because I thought it would be funny. I couldnt find one very close to me though. Then I found Tucker. I knew when I found him he was the one I had to have. We even have the same birthday. He is a chorkie. He is mostly Yorkie. He is not half and half like most. The lady I got him from said he is 7/8 yorkie and 1/8 chi. the mother was full yorkie and the dad was 3/4 yorkie and 1/4 chi. I didnt care what he was I had to have him. I may still get a dorkie one day to add to the big dork in the house. LOL |

They are certainly cute, as all puppies/dogs are, but are not a recognized "breed." Dorkie is simply another of the multitude of names used to refer to cross bred dogs. |
Wow!!!!! They are cute little buggers!!!!!:D |

There is no BREED called a "Dorkie." I am not going to get into the whole mixed breed thing but most know how I feel about that  |
