ahhh no labradoodles, yorkipoos, cockapoos etc They are a MIXED BREED BREED of KNOWN origin of 2 purebred registered parents - I have bred PUREBRED Yorkies for years and they are adorable and still my favorites obviously but gee why do people hesitate to post on here and get reminders to do so.. because there are those FEW out there that just have to try to one up others and try to be superior, (rolling MY EYES) we all KNOW what purebred and Mixed mean folks and others TRULY do not appreciate it. There are other breed registries which I DO NOT USE for my Dorkies, but the AKC is adding new ones yearly, once they are established. Thanks for those who had nice comments. Some need to learn to play better with others. |
What a cutie, and they have wonderful temperments |

Many of us feel very strongly about "breeders" purposely breeding mixes as well as irresponsibly breeding purebreds. It's not gonna go away, so sorry. |
[quote=amandawash;2501100]Um, sorry but the last time I checked we all have our right to our own personal opinions, regardless of what they are. I guess this public forum should only allow others to post their opinions if they are nice? Not happening.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: :rolleyes::rolleyes: |

yes I have a dorkie! Mother is a long haired dauchhoud(SP?) and father yorkie. |
While I agree thy can be cute. So many dogs are killed each day because their are so many people breeding! Its crazy to see what "new breed" they can make. Its not a breed its a mutt. Mix. Whatever you want to call it. Sad really I think. HOWEVER if you have one and its your pet then enjoy your baby and hope its litter mates are not dumped for lack of homes or cause the new is gone. Yes I know this happens to pure bred dogs also. Some people just care more about money then the dogs. |
Uni is a "dorkshire terrier" b/c she is a dork! We call her that b/c it rhymes with "yorkshire terrier". (She is pure yorkie.) Other than that, breeders who advertise "designer dogs" ought to be ashamed of themselves, they are only in it for the fad and the money. And yes I know this thread is old, but whatever. |

 This thread is old but I have to high five on your response. The "Designer Dog" world is making the puppymill and BYB industry worse. And it is already horrifying. I'm beginning to think there is something seriously wrong with some people, because most would rather ignore the problem and continue to support the industry, to save a buck or to claim that they have something unique. Then later for the unlucky ones (which is A LOT of people) when problems begin to show, they have the nerve to have hurt emotions on their choice. Good grief Charlie Brown! |
Dorkies 3 Attachment(s) Hi Everyone, Yes, I have heard and have had Dorkies! They are sweethearts and it brings out the best of both breeds. I will share some of my babies pics with you. Merry Christmas Everyone! |
I'm seen one at my shelter before, we were actually going to adopt her but she ended up being adopted. Her name was Muffy and I swear she was the cutest thing. Perfect combo of Yorkie and Dachshund. Maybe I can find some pictures of her, she has since been adopted though 8) |

You are kidding right! Get our dog fixed and encourage you friend to do the same. Why would you risk your dogs life for more mutt dogs in the world? Mutts should happen by accident not because you want to see what happens. |
I have to agree with MPlayman. Breeding your dog is a SERIOUS process and when done correctly can become costly, certainly not to be done "just to see what they look like". IMO that is cruel.:thumbdown |

I actually found this post offensive to all of the precious mixed breed dogs out there but I do agree that you should not let your dogs breed. Regardless, of whether they are mixed breeds or not, only experienced breeders who have done the research and genetic testing should be breeding. Just be happy with your little precious Yorkie and keep her safe :) |

I felt MPlayman was saying to see what they would like is a horrible reason to breed your dog with another breed, thus a making a mutt out of curiousity. Edited to say my mutt is the one in the avitar pic with her sweater rolled up under her arms. :p |
I agree with the message of the post, I just think the tone of the message came across as hateful toward mixed breeds. "Why would you risk your dogs life for more mutt dogs in the world?" That may not have been the intent but that's the way it came across to me. JMO |

Edited to say that they are BOTH sooo cute! hehe |
To be clear. I have nothing against mixed accidental puppies/dogs. I love all dogs. I just think that people who know NOTHING about breeding and do it for fun, money or "just cause my dog needs to get some", shouldn't! I do think all the mix breeding is wrong when its done on purpose. This is my PO. Please take a look at the shelter or on Craigslist, or Kijiji! For that matter any newspaper. There are tons of dogs in there. Ask how many are PTS each DAY! One shelter in AZ had over 300 dogs. Most are APTS after a 10 DAY hold. That is truly sad. |

It wasn't the message of your post that I found offensive, it was the tone/wording. |
"However, I think that the majority of people in this world shouldn't be breeding" True true so true |

I would strongly suggest you think about what you are planning on doing. I see you are asking in other threads if you should breed your yorkie with the neighbor's doxie. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...etalk-com.html You will not find anyone's blessings to do so here. The animal shelters are FULL of accidental mixed breed dogs, why do you want to contribute to that, and on purpose for that matter? In addition, when breeding mixed breeds, you never know how the end result will look like, even within littermates their look can vary. It's a dangerous crapshoot. I don't understand why you are so "whatevers" about it. And the web is full of pics of dorkies, in this thread even there are pics, have you read anything about them? |
dorkie I do NOT consider my dog a mutt! He is awesome...no he is not full bred yorkie and my friend did not intentionally breed her daschund with a yorkie... but i'm glad it happened. |
Dorkies My 25 yr old son has a male Dachshund named Rubble. When Sophie came to us in September, he teased me by saying "We're going to mate Rubble and Sophie. We'll call their pups Weenkies". Needless to say, when Rubble comes to visit and play with his cousin, they are carefully chaperoned.;) |

They are R-O-T-T-E-N too! I think that is pretty common around here though. |
