Here is a site I found with information on puppymills. It made me cry when I read some of it. http://yorkieviews.com/aboutpuppymills.htm Especailly knowing that the goverment lets these people get away with abusing these poor animals.

And you have the perfect name for it...

Reconsmom! LOL

I can see it now. Under moonlit cover. Dressed all in black with a black stocking cap - charcoal smudged on your face - bolt cutters, flashlight, and a dog whistle attached to your hip! Not to mention a pocket full of enticing treats just in case the POWs are hungry!! Darting from shrub to shrub closely followed by a similary dressed Geraldo Rivera and his camera crew ready for exposure!

A stealth recon mission at it's very finest!!

I joke, but please be carefull!! Obviously these are crazy money hungry people to be doing what they are doing!

It would have been AWESOME to have Geraldo Rivera filming her !

ReconsMomma 07-12-2005 12:42 PM

Its about damn time that we can all joke about something instead of debate it.

Can you hear it now?? The mission impossible theme music playing as I do the duck and roll from shrub to schrub?? :)

Jeniferlee 07-12-2005 12:44 PM

I am not so sure I would be worrying about the trespassing ticket but the shooting that could take place if you get caught. If they are willing to make animals suffer like that lord knows what else they would do. A friend of mines Mom was like that with birds when I was younger, she had tons of bird cages everywhere, the poor birds lived in gross and nasty environments. As breeders this was ok with them because they were having babies and making the CASH! If Wisconsin is anything like Upper Michigan I am sure they have a gun and use it carelessly!
BE VERY CAREFUL PLEASE!

So, since I have had so much stress lately I have been really neglecting my dogs attention wise and wasn't really in the mood to play, and since they love rides so much I thought it was a great way to pay attention to them and clear my mind. (driving clears my head) I took a friend of mine with me who works for our local animal shelter and we went to check this place out.

Now, I have read through all the posts on the original thread about this place and I really dont want this to turn into some big debate or arguement. If it does I might have to get ticked off and tell some people off and get into trouble. I know that alot of you respect me and my point of view and I would hope that you would also respect the point of view of an animal control officer that is a very close friend of mine.

This place was barely visable from the road but you could smell the dog poop and hear the dogs barking almost a mile away. There was no fence up around the property and no guard dogs so my friend and I decided to take a look. HEHE sneaky sneaky....

I parked the car about 1/4 mile down the road and took Recon with me. He is great off leash so we figured out the plan in case we were caught, and were going to say that he ran off and we were looking for him. I had the leash over my shoulder.

I couldn't handle the smell when we got closer. Seriously, I was gagging. Poor Recon kept looking at me like I was nuts. My friend and I walked through the tree line toward the place and there were 9 YES 9 buildings with dog runs off of them, lined with gravel that was so full of dog crap I couldn't believe it. Most of the buildings were open on one end and we could see in them. (By the light of a lighter, forgot the flashlight) they were lined on the inside with kennels that had about 15 dogs of all sizes. then down the center of the buildings there were crates stacked 3 high with 3 or 4 dogs in each.

All the buildings were like that. They had all kinds of dogs in there. I wish I had took bolt cutters with me cause I would have let the whole heard out.

One smaller building had puppies of all kinds in it. I couldn't really see in it really well but I could tell that there were at least 50 pups in it.

Up closer to the house were some smaller buildings that had a few dogs in them but as we were approaching that building the lights in the house came on and we got a little freaked out.

As we got back in the car, a truck pulled out of the driveway and pulled up near us. He asked if we were OK and I said yes, we had just moved in about a mile away and my dog ran off. TOld him that we found my dog and he told us to have a nice night and drove off. I got his plate # as he drove away and my friend is going to call that counties animal control unit and get something done about it. We are thinking about going back again and doing the same thing that we did tonite.

So what I am saying here is that this place is a puppymill any way you cut it.

Please dont turn this into a debate or an arguement. Thanks Kristy for bringing this place to my attention. I had never heard about this place before and it was only 25 min north of me.

Up until this morning where there was that post that had to be closed, I had not been following any of this. Is this mill in PA? Most states have basic rules about how the dogs in kennels must be kept, food, water and clean cages is the bare minimum. If the mill smells as bad as you describe, I would think (I don't honestly know) that you could get the authorities in - at least for a visit so that they have to clean up the place or risk loosing the dogs. Calling the local shelter or animal protection agency in could at least scare them into treating the dogs a bit better for awhile . . .

You guys are too funny.

Animal control in that area has been notified and they are planning to make a visit to the property. I am not going back to the place since I dont need to have any more problems than I already have going on right now.
