Bruce's Mom - is that the Absolutely Puppies in Bellevue, WA? I've heard terrible things about them and even read a flier about all of the problems people have had with puppies from there. I also read that Washington state has a law that pet stores have to reveal where they get there puppies from, but Absolutely Puppies has sued the state because they do not want to reveal. Bad place if you ask me. Hopefully your pup will stay healthy. It sickens me to drive by there and see how busy it always is! |
Bentley's Mom: That is absolutely where I purchased him, but I heard things have actually worsened since I purchasec Bruce...Before they had the place set up like a house and would place ads as if they were actual breeders and really really decieve you. Once Bruce began developing his jaw deffect and was having such a hard time learning his routine and behaviors I knew something was up and so I did a little independent investigation! I am currently in the begining stages of a lawsuit with this place for misleading/deceptive sales pratices, fraud, etc. Bruce is a happy healthy little baby, but this jaw deffect will end up costing us somewhere between $3-5k to fix, and it will be painful for him. This is not even considering the fact that he has had to have a battery of tests for things like liver shunt, knee abnormalities, etc since byb and mill dogs often has these problems. It is really an outrage!!! I still breakdown everytime I think about how stupid I was, what he must have gone through, and what other little puppies must go through because we purchased a puppy there. I am one of the lucky ones too other people have gotten dogs with parvo and distemper that have died! Well at any rate if you drive buy there a lot wave to Bruce and I on Saturday afternoons because until they close down shop or at least tell the truth about where their dogs come from we will be there to tell people what has happened to Bruce and I (at least we will resume when we get back from AK)! Bruce also likes to go to Bellevue Square with his "WHAT ABSOLUTELY PUPPIES DID TO ME WILL ABSOLUTELY BREAK YOUR HEART!" T Shirt to try and detract the people who will stop on the way home from the mall! Sorry about the rant! |
That's great that you're willing to go to those lengths on a saturday afternoon no less to prove your point. It takes guts and integrity and you got it sister. Bruce is absolutely adorable and you've learned a lot from this experience. I didn't know even a smidgen of the things I know now. We were pretty much all in the same boat before joining YT....hehe..Coco sends kisses to Bruce for his ouchies. :kiss2:  |

Bruce's Mom - Let me know when you get back and we will come and join you! |
That's horrible about Absolute Puppies, and that's here in the Seattle area! :( Amazing what they can get away with, that's just so wrong! |
I wish I was there with you - we could plan events outside pet shops and demonstrations at puppy mills together to show them that they can no longer decieve american yorkielovers! |
I will also get a shirt... I have been letting everyone I know about puppy mills, which I knew nothing about until this forum. Wearing a shirt, will bring on more opportunities to pass on what I have learned. So count me in :) |
I think it's great that everyone here is pulling together to stop puppymills and inform people about buying from reputable breeders and hearing about bruce's mom's story. I was thinking about my own ignorance when I purchased Mac. It dosen't seem to be limited to just pet stores but a lot of these "Broker" web sites also. Which unfortunately is where I purchased mac from. I spoke with the dealer who happened to leave near me and seemed like she actually had a couple of people she dealt with and that she only sold the very best dogs. I should have known something was wrong from the start. At first she said I had to wait an extra week because he had a cold and the breeder did not want to ship him. I thought this was actually very wise at the time. However I think I should have known this was a red flag. When Mac finally came to live with us I immediately took him to the vet. Everything was in order but he seemed to have an eye infection. Well that was just the beginning. Within the first 2 weeks we were at the vet constantly. My vet then recommended that we take mac to the animal hospital that we have in our state. It turns out that Mac was born with AtlantoAxial Malformation. At time the Neurologist recommend that we put him to sleep he didn't think he would live and was to tiny to have the necessary surgery which he problably would not survive or return him to the dealer. I just could not do that, so I decided to keep him and just give him a happy loving home and leave it in God's hands. Thank God he's doing just fine now the vet calls him little miracle man. I went back to the dealer who at this time decided she was just and advertiser. It was between me and the breeder and even though our state has a puppy lemon law it turns out that taking her to court would cost me more in legal fees then I had already paid in vet bills. She did however decided that she would refund her profit on the deal $800.00. She was not concerned at all about the dog and I found out that she had never dealt with this breeder ever before and the breeder actually sold Mac's sister to a pet store. When I deceided to get Mellie is was alot more educated and knew what to look for in a reputable and responsible breeder. I wish I had this knowledge to start with. Ok after my long winded speal my thought is that we could start a thread of any places or websites we know of that people should avoid or have had a bad experience with maybe that could help put a dent in things. |
Just be careful you don't get shot! Your"ll one brave lady! lily |
