| Is thin hair linked to bad dog food?? Our little resuce that we brought home has SUCH thin hair that I can see her skin easily. She has tiny little mats that I was combing out yesterday and since the hair is so thin I actually made her bleed on her leg from brushing the hair out it wasnt badly bleeding more like a scrape. She was eating "the cheapest puppy food you can buy" as quoted from the lady I obtained her from. She is now on Performatrin like my furkids..do you think that her thin hair is caused by a bad diet?? You wouldnt look at her and think she has thin hair but when she is on your lap you can see her scalp and skin..Im just used to thick coats Dawn |

| Dawn, I really don't think poor quality food would make her hair like that..I used to feed my older dogs like beneful, and some other so called crappy foods(years ago), and they actually all had beautfiul hair. Has the vet checked him/her out yet? |

| No she has an appointment set for Friday though so I will see what he has to say...maybe she just naturally has thin hair? I know my mom and dad fed our schnauzer dog chow growing up and he had a great coat too..but I dont think this is even name brand food which made me think it could have been a cause..thanks!! Dawn |

| Some yorkies just have thin hair and others have thick hair. I've seen both.

| Performatrin Hi You are the first one on here, that I have seen that feeds your pups Performatrin. This is what I give my two, also. I was just at the Vets this morning, and asked her if they were getting everything they needed as far as nutrition is concerned, should I be adding peas, or some kind of vegetables. She told me that they are getting everything they need from their food, and not to add anything, because once they get a taste of human food, they will become fussy eaters. That in her opinion it is best to stick to only Performatrin. Our local pet shop also recommended Performatrin. So I just bet that now that your little one is now eating good balanced food, her coat will begin to grow in. Hope this helps Good luck Janelles |

| Chloe had really thin hair as a pup, we gave her some skin and coat supplement and it really seemed to help! She has a beautiful coat now. |

| Performatrin Oh! Now I get it! I see you are from Canada, too. Maybe that is why I haven't heard any of the other girls mention it. I'm wondering if maybe they don't seel it in the states. Where are you located? I am just am just a few miles from the Falls. Janice |

| I agree with the Missing Link. You want to make sure she's getting some fish oil. I'm also wondering about what type of products have been used on her. Perhaps she was being bathed with some really harsh chemicals or people shampoo. I would make sure to use a high quality Oatmeal shampoo made for dogs - here is a great suggestion NuSalt Shampoo and followed up Relief Creme Rinse Also, make sure you're not brushing a dry coat. I love Cloud Star's Buddy Splash it is filled with herbs and natural oil. A good quality brush helps to - the Chris Christensen brush I have was worth every penny. I wonder if stress is also playing a part. So many possibilities with a rescue. Thank you for giving her a forever home.
