If you and I got off on the wrong foot I do apologize but as you can tell I'm very passionate. I am so dedicated to the yorkie breed and I just can't stand where the breed is going. If I did offend you I do apologize but I hope you understand with the health issues from unethical breeders where it be in a person that just does it for a hobby or that of a show breeder. I'm just as passionate against a show breeder that is doing it for the wrong reasons also! I have enough family that wants one of mine when they retire so probably will put with family but I haven't had to make that decision yet. Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |

I've heard this before that breeders rehome their females when they stop breeding them. I would really like to hear from the breeders if this is true. If it is true then I'm really bothered by some of the statements. If you do it for the love of the breed and not for money and the dogs live in your home and are part of the family how on earth can you just give them away? I hear comments on how hard it is to even let the puppies go, I can't imagine giving the mommas away. So to the breeders, is this true? |

I only have maybe one litter a year. It's hard for me to let go of a puppy and I can't imagine letting go of a female or male but it may have to come to that one day but it will be what's in the best for my dog. And that's to be in a loving home but I"m hoping it will never come to that. And if it were to come to that at some point I would make no money because they would be placed with a family member or someone that is wanting an older yorkie "FREE" of charge :) But with that said I really prefer to show than breed and my goal is to show yorkies for other people one day. I hope that made sense. Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |

I don't know enough about breeding/breeders to be knowledgeable in these discussions you all have, but I like to think everyone here tries to do their best and loves their pups. :animal36 |

In all honesty I hope it would never come to that! Like I said I prefer the showing aspect of the yorkie breed than the breeding! :) Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |

Being a show breeder/exhibitor isn't for everyone. I just love showing but I can't afford to go out and buy a show dog everytime I finish one so I have to breed some to get my next show dog but I can tell you this...I love all my babies!!! Not one is not without love and affection!! They all run my house! |

I do not have a problem with show breeders that rehome retired studs and bitches. They do make sure they have very good homes and they are treated like kings and queens which they rightfully deserve. They make sure they are spayed or neuterd and most of them give them away. A breeder could not keep all of them they would have housefuls, what would the hubbys think of that, they would be overrun.I think breeders have some they get more attached to and would have to keep and some they could rehome .How else can some of these breed for 30 plus years? |

I do hope it never comes to that either but when you show a dog you do form a bond with that animal and I am in love with every one of my dogs and when I do get another one I will be totally in love with that one too. You see showing not only is for the person but for the dog. When you have that special one that loves the show ring you develop a bond with them. I'm not saying it's easy for any breeder to part with that show dog but again realistically it's in the dog's best interest not that we aren't in love with them as you are it's just that we can't keep everything that we show and breed...like you said I haven't been faced with that choice yet and I hope I never have too but being realistic I don't see anyway around it if I want to continue with breeding my next show dog. Like I stated in another post of mine I'd rather show than breed anyway! The stress kills me and gives me more grey hairs! |

Myfairlacy appears to be a very level headed girl in seeing her posts. I'm surprised at her age and very impressed. One could certainly learn many things from her. |
