| Cotton Coat My male yorkie has a cotton coat, and recently he has started shedding. His hair is dry, and I do brush him for the most part daily. I have started missing link, and I am hoping this helps. Is this normal? When his hair is shorter he doesn't shed except when I brush him? It is now longer then it's ever been and he started shedding. Before I cut it all off in the middle of winter, I was wondering if anyone has had this trouble before. I do use mink sheen shampoo.

Well he could be missing something? We had alot of trouble finding a dog food that didn't make them sick. Finally after trying everything (especially top quality) we have to feed them half Science Diet mixed with another brand. Out vet helped us figure it out. Anything that was top quality just made them have diarrhea or throw up... or both. So we finally found something. Thats why I added the missing link.

| Are you sure its just not hair breakage due to the dry weather? My Harley is more on the cottony side, sometimes I do find clumps of hair on the floor after he scratches himself. Also I've noticed after I brush him the brush is full of his hair.

| Your girl's hair sounds normal, so I would compare his to hers. If he is losing that much more then I would be concerned. It isn't normal to see a pile of hair on your bed from a Yorkie. The only time I see Ellie's hair is in her brush. When did this start? Did it start right after you switched to Science Diet? Science Diet made some of Ellie's fur rough. I would be asking for a blood panel if it isn't just brushing off from the weather. It is possibly a hormone imbalance.

| Thats kinda what I was thinking. It's not the whole hair cause it's much shorter than what his hair is on his body. I never have clumps, but it is all over the blanket.
