I may be onto something. One trip to the groomer made him forget the day in the cold. Maybe if I beat him tomorrow, he'll forget about the groomer?

This proves what we breeders have known for years...Yorkies are a very hearty breed...a healthy one can withstand quite a bit of cold...the real problem is cold water and being outdoors unable to dry...so NO swimming this time of year guys!!!!!
Years back one of my boys got left out all night...it was about 25 degrees...Gus dug a hole in the flower bed and burrowed down for the night....he was royally ticked off at me, but none the worse for wear...

Woohoo! I'm NOT a bad dad! Can I get a Hallelujah? I'll settle for about 50 apologies!

LOL, thanks YorkieRose for putting some perspective on it. I think most of us see the single layer of fur and think they shouldn't go out at all without arctic attire. But I was stunned at how well he stood up to the cold. He literally did not want to come in the house. He knew I was upset and wanted to pick him up, so he thought we were playing our regular game. It took me a couple minutes to get him to go in the house.

Your story about Gus is amazing!

Nah, no apologies. If Eddie thought he was abused and mistreated, then he must have been. Yorkies don't tell fibs (do they?). He probably didn't want to come in 'cause he was afraid of you! Besides, what a grand time we've had with this story!

But Tink is recinding her offer to Eddie. If he would eat her frog, she doesn't think he's very nice.:eek: Jack and Rusty can come though!:p

LOL, well, he does like snow dogs ....

Well, Eddie and Jack now hate me because Rusty is on a special diet because of some, uh, bowel movement issues. Rusty gets rice and oatmeal and eggs and chicken and boiled hamburger while Eddie and Jack are stuck with their ol' Canidae. They hate me. And Rusty hates me because he doesn't get much.

I busted him today. The Lab-proof babygate worked for a couple weeks until I saw him miraculously squeeze through the Eddie-size hole. So I put up some tape to make the Eddie-size hole a Jack-size hole. No way Rusty could sneak through that! Eddie barely made it. That was a couple weeks ago.

Last night I came home from work and noticed Eddie's Canidae dish empty. That's rare. I free feed him, and he just sort of picks at it. Empty? I was suspicious. So today, I headed out to work, said goodbye to the dogs and hopped in my truck. Dead battery. Ugh. I walked back in the house, opened the door and headed to the kitchen to phone for help.

Guess who was racing out through the 6" babygate like he'd been caught with his jowls in the cookie jar? And guess whose Canidae dish wash empty?

I'm going to get some barbwire next.

Nothing, I mean nothing, will keep Rusty from a bowl full of food. He is like Houdini. Tucker loves being free fed now because he's not fighting Rusty for the food. Rusty thinks all food is his. Cat food, dog food, people food....it's all his!
