| People don't see past "designer" to realize its a mutt, are stupid enough to fall into the "designer" term and pay more $$. Someone at the park said a friend of hers paid about $2000 for a Morkie *shrug*

| You have to keep checking...My sister had gotten in to the breeding, she wasn't a puppy mill, nor was she a backyard breeder, but a lot of people in the area were looking for small dogs and were undecided, yorkie/maltese..so, for 4 breedings, she did the morkies, they were always spoken for before they were even born, but, the last litter I think was almost 5 years ago, she only did the breeding a short time, then gave it up...she always liked the mixes better than the purebreds.. |

| Please don't fall into the whole "designer dog" fad...they are mixed breed dogs, and anyone breeding them purposely is not a reputable breeder. Please take your time and research and find a reputable breeder....mainly to make sure you get a healthy puppy. You wouldn't believe how many health problems our toy breeds have becauase of irresponsible breeders. And these "designer dogs" are NOT healthier than purebreds. Backyard breeders do NO health screening on their dogs and most toy breeds have similar genetic problems so you are just as likely to get an unhealthy mixed breed as an unhealthy purebred...especially if you buy from a bad breeder. Buying from a reputable breeder that health screens their dogs gives you a MUCH higher chance of getting a healthy dog. Also, is this puppy a surprise for you DIL? A puppy does not make a good gift. It's so important for the person to know they want a puppy & be able to research and pick out the puppy themselves. Many puppies given as gifts end up rehomed after the newness wears off. Please let your DIL search for her puppy with you

| Now, I do have to say, yes, my sister did do health screenings on hers, and out of the 4 litters(the youngest ones are almost 4 or 5 years now, they're all healthy little dogs..But, she only charged $400 or $450 for hers...she really never made much money on hers..Make sure this is what your d=i=l wants though.. |

| Yes, my daughter-in-law wants a Yorkiepoo. She has wanted one for years. She is a very responsible person, has 2 children, and is a nurse. She is not falling into the designer dog trap. She just wants one. There are some reputable breeders out there who do the testing. Believe me, I know about testing and so forth. I have 2 show cockers, and the breeder did all the testing. |
