| Sooo Confused!!! Need Advice Chewy will be 2 in April and she has never really shed too much. The last few weeks...maybe a month however she has started shedding so much that i am linting like a mainiac!!!! When i pick her up to give her a hug i am covered in hair, my beige couch looks a shade darker until I lint it every day, there is hair flying around and literally on everything. Does this mean she is missing some vitamins??? Does anyone have experience with this?? Is there something I could buy to prevent the shedding. I hate the thought of having to give her medicine every day... she doesnt do too well...diareah (sp?). But I also cant deal with the shedding. One of the major reason I bought a yorkie as opposed to another dog is because they dont shed much....Pleasssee help! |

| This would only be normal for a puppy. Yorkies do not shed (they may lose a little bit of hair like humans), so there is something wrong.

| I have no idea but is there a spot that is bald on her or is she just shedding from all over like larger dogs?

| Its definately all over!! I usually only brush her once every few weeks because she always has a short puppy cut but recently ive brushed her every day and with a FLEA COmB to try to get as much of the hair out as possible. I am left with a huge clump after every brushing. Any ideas?/ |

| Maybe thyroid problems or cushings disease? She needs to see a vet. http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?articleid=416 http://www.thepetcenter.com/gen/hypot.html There is a possibility that it is something as simple as diet though.

| Poor baby ... hope it isn't anything serious for Chewy and a simple change in diet will solve this. Toto has never shed but I do get a little loose hair in her brush when I brush her hair, just like humans. Please let us know what you learn from your vet.

| Hair loss is a classic sign of a thyroid imbalance. It's a simple blood test and easy and inexpensive fix with a pill twice a day. She definitely needs to go to the vet and get checked out. Hair loss like that is not normal. |

| Stress can certainly cause that kind of shedding. Has anything changed for her like a new home, loss of another pet or kenneled? I'm sure the Dr. will do a blood panel. |

| Saw the vet... he took a full blood work and i'll call from the results Monday morning. He said it sounds like an endocrine problem but she is soooo young...not too common. Thanks for the good wishes and hopefully its nothing serious... I'm gonna get her some fish oil this week to make smooth out her skin. |
