YT 2000 Club Member | Has Your Furkid Ever Done This? Lil Miss Maggy May thinks my German Shorthaired Pointer mix is her Momma, lol! Dottie is her name, she's always been so WONDERFUL with every small animal we've ever had. We rescued her from a kill shelter 6 years ago, at that time our vet said she was 2 years old. We don't know any history on her, as someone dropped her off and left her there in the middle of the night. It breaks my heart because she's such a loyal and loving girl and I can't imagine anyone not wanting her. Anyhow, I don't know if she's ever had a litter of pups (before we got her) she never has since we've had her and never will. Anyhow, Dottie loves all small furbabies, kitties and puppies, and without a doubt, she LOVES Maggy May. I had them on my bed last night playing and Maggy found her way to Miss Dottie's teets. She started suckling and Dottie just laid there and let her. Dottie cleaned Maggy and then just laid her head down and dozed off while Maggy suckled away. I can't believe she let Maggy do that and didn't mind at all. Here's a pick so you can see. It's funny cause Dottie's 80-85 pounds and on the 4th of this month when we had Maggy to the vet, she only weighed 1 pound 8 ounces. I'm sure she's gained a few more ounce since then and she's now a lil over 9 weeks old. I think Maggy thinks Dottie's her Momma, lol.

YT 2000 Club Member | Oh I'm sure she was, she was only 6 weeks old when she came to live with us, but I didn't have a choose, it was either take her or the lady that had the pups was going to put all 6 of them down. 4 of the pups got homes but Maggy and Gibbs didn't, so my daughter and I got Maggy and Gibbs. They came from a really bad situation, Maggy made it, Gibbs didn't :-( I'm glad Maggy has Dottie to nuzzle up to, I'm sure she does miss her Momma and I know she was taken from her to soon, so now she's got the best of both worlds, a new fur Momma and a family that loves her to bits :-) Glad you all enjoyed the pic, I think it's so sweet of Dottie to allow Maggy to do this, I really think they've bonded :-)

YT 2000 Club Member | Thank you Lori. Yes, it's heartbreaking what she came from, but by the grace of God, she pulled through and has a family that loves her and wants her. I'm pretty darn sure Dottie wouldn't trade her for the world either ;-) We tried so hard to save Gibbs, but the vet said there was just no fight left in him. When we got them, they were infested with fleas, tape worms, round worms, ear mites and a yeast infection in their lil ears. Maggy's been on meds now for a month and hopefully at her next checkup the yeast infection in her ears will be all gone. When the vet gave the med for the worms and Gibbs started passing them, he also passed A LOT of blood. I was scared to death it was parvo and was just sick with worry. Thank God it wasn't parvo though. I've never seen a lil pup pass so many round worms in my life, it was so heartbreaking. Gibbs is missed but I know we'll see him again one day in heaven and I find peace in knowing he isn't suffering anymore. Dottie would have loved him to, she's such a good girl.

YT 2000 Club Member | Thank you Karen. Dottie's my heart dog I guess you could say. I know it seems as though I saved her, but in all actuality, she saved me. I had been trying to recover from a really bad four wheeler accident when we rescued her. I had three brain bleeds and after coming back from it so far, I was pretty much knocked stupid from the accident, "litterally." I was also afraid to do many things, but for some reason, I found comfort in doing things withs with Dottie. She got me out of the house to the back yard, she always pushed me to do more and more. If it wasn't for the grace of God and him bringing her into my life, my recovery would have taken a lot longer than a year. She's never let me down and she's so faithful and loving. I just can't imagine life without her. Seeing how gentle she is with Maggy just warms my heart so much and puts such a smile on my face. I think Dottie brings Maggy a lot of comfort as well.
