| My First Yorkie!!!!! Hello all I am getting my first Yorkie this saturday. I found this site only yesterday but it has been helpful beyond belief, sooooo after taking peoples advice and a special thanks to Amber, I went out and this is what i bought. Nutrical Royal Canin Puppy 33 A cute pink harness /w leash Wee Wee Pads PlayPen(I am building it now :-) ) A small bell (so i can always know where she is) A Bow Bowl Sooo this is what i have so far, I wanted advice from you guys as to what else i should get. Dont worry about the toys im getting a bunch soon enough :-). I am starting to read the advice threads religously so my little girl will be healthy. I am taking her straight from the airport to the vet, I am getting a regular check up. And on monday when a vet i know comes in to work i will do poop tests etc. So please tell me what else is needed, any advice, and I cant wait to post pics of my cutie pie. Also, this dog is going to be mine and my girlfriends. We are debating between two names Roxy or Lexi. I wont tell you who wants what but let us know what you think THANKs!!!! |

| You want to get them used to being brushed (both hair and teeth) while they are young so they don't fight you later, so I suggest a comb and tooth brush. Congratulations!!! I agree with Janie, I like both names.

| It depends on their coat and teeth. Some have bad teeth (like my Gus) that need to be brushed every day some only do it a few times a week. Same with the hair, it depends if they matt easily or not.

| Welcome to YT! You may also want to grab. Cleaning solution (I think its called Natures Miracle) to clean up accidents Treats (Yorkie Yummies from chattiesmom are GREAT) Blankets (really inexpensive in the baby section at Walmart) and don't forget a toy!

| Congratulations (to you and your girlfriend) and welcome to yorkie talk.. the people here are amazing and very knowledgable. To add to your list...I would get some shampoo/conditioner.. either a puppy shampoo that is tear free or I think a lot of people use some type of dog shampoo (whichever you choose) on the body and then use baby shampoo on their head, which is tear free. I would also invest in some nail clippers. Being owned by a yorkie is amazing... be careful though, they are addicting! oh, my vote is for Lexi.

| Welcome to YT, congrats on your new puppy, and good luck! Both of those names are really cute. I'm partial to Lexi because I plan to name one of my future yorkies that. Another thing to add to your list is a good stainless steel comb. You'll need to brush/comb your little girl out every day to prevent tangles and matts. And you want to get her used to it early

| I would love to see pictures of the bed and playpen you made, sounds like your new pup is going to be one spoiled girl Really it seems you have all the essentials to get you started. I found that when I got my first yorkie baby I couldn't shop enough or buy enough for her. Thankfully that slowed down because I was draining my account. LOL Welcome to Yorkie Talk! I vote for Lexie but really like both names
