| Maximus started Puppy Kindergarten Well today was the first day of puppy kindergarten..(only the parents went today)..I am soooo excited, there is a 6lb chiuauha?? (4-1/2 months), a 40lb. 5 month puppy (can't remember the type)..and thats it for our class..lol..small!!! Anyways the trainer said that the hardest command for the little dogs will probably be "down" because they are already soo close to the ground, so I figured I would start trying to practice with Maximus...when we try his butt keeps going back up in the air...I wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions for me? Thanks..I am soooo excited!!!!AGAIN

| That's awesome! I hope he has a blast. With our pups, it always helped to get into a sitting position first and then take a treat along the floor between the front paws to make them lay down. If they have to stretch out a little to get it, I think it helps. Good luck! |

| Maximus is 5 months..they can be4gin as early as the shots are done though and yes they need all their shots (inc. Rabies) the trainer even recommends bordadella (kennel cough) vaccine..but you DON'T have to have it...I did try sitting first and then bring the treat down..lol..and his butt pos up as his head goes down...lol...I'm debating if when he's lying down I should be like YEAH!!!! DOWN...GOOD BOY and give a treat????...LOL

| That is so cute! I'm sure it's frusterating, but I bet it would be a very cute video clip. Have you tried gently putting a little pressure on his toosh? Maybe he just needs guided a little....? |

| We just finished our classes at Petsmart and Pita finally got "down" on Friday, the last class, she just gets bored during the sit stays and lays down so we rewarded her on that and then she kinda got it, but I am still working on it. Everyone thought she would be the worst one in class cuz she's so little and I bring her in all dressed up. BUT she turned out to be the one who can do everything well, she's not all keyed up like the big guys and not scared of everything like my daughters 8 lb chihuahua, (who was doing better by the end) Have fun! I am thinking of joining the advanced class when we get back from vacation. |

| Funny you should say that....lol, the instructor said that the "little dogs" may be scared of the bigger dog but I told him you haven't seen anything yet...lol..I have seen Maximus chase big dogs away...lol..not to be mean but because he wants to go sniff them and of course I have him on his harness but a sudden move from him and the dog just cowered behind his owner. He just gets so excited to see people, dogs, cats ...lol basically anything so I am woried he may also get distracted...but for food he is a SLAVE!!!!
