| Need Help, Chloe's skin is really really dry and flaking Chloe has such dry flaky skin right now and this is the second time this has happened in the past 6 months. It looks like she has "cradle cap" and its even almost scabby, has anyone ever experienced this with thier yorkies? My best friend also has a yorkie and her dog is expereinceing the same thing so it makes me wonder if its environmental. Like maybe its extremely dry air that is doing this . I dont know what to do, I dont know if I should bathe her more, bathe her less, change her food, change grooming products etc. Right now I bathe Chloe once a week like Ive always done and I use Pet Silk oatmeal shampoo and the Petsilk moisturizing conditioner. I have been told before by my groomer that petsilk has a lot of detergent in it so maybe its irritating Chloe's skin (if this is the case it doesnt explain why my friend's yorkie is having the same problem as she does not use petsilk products). So has anyone ever had this problem and if so what did you do?

| Roxy was really flaky behind her ears pretty bad where it was making her itch after she had an ear infection that cleared up. The meds from the infection dryed out her skin... This is what I did... I used Fresh & Clean Oatmeal... its very moisturizing... AND I have started putting low tasting Olive Oil into her Cesar's. She has already showed signs of clearing up in just 3 days!!!... Thats just a suggestion tho

| Timmy had the same thing a few months ago and my vet recommened head & shoulders or any shampoo like H&S. I know they have different brands out there now. I used it on Timmy and it cleared up. It took a few weeks because I only bathe them once a week but it cleared it up. I know what you mean...it loooks like cradle cap. |

| I have had Jeter into the vet 3 times now for scabby skin. The vet actually thinks it is pimples that are drying up, then flaking off. It is rather icky and he is always trying to scratch. It is only on his back. If this sounds the same, they put Jeter on an antibiotic 3 times a day for a month along with a medicated shampoo twice a week. Good luck in making your baby comfy. |
