What is it about a yorkie...... Hello all. I have been looking at all the pretty babies and hope to find a little love soon. I have friends that have tried to give me a pup or suggested I look into the breed that they have but it is just not a yorkie. I have had so many different breeds over the years but none of them have stolen my heart the way the independent little yorkie has. I have always been a cat person and I guess it was because of the independence they have. I am now a yorkie person and always will be. I never want to be without one again! What is it about the yorkie that you love? |
I love the breed because they are so smart, clever, challenging, have a beautiful coat and are good with children (if trained right). Perfect dog for me. Also, they do not shed! |
They have beautiful hair...are smart...brave...feisty...and are little!!! |
:yorkiesar .... hi hi hi |
I really couldn't answer that...I love all dogs(not a cat person at all), but, right now, I have 2 yorkies, a biewer, a shih tzu, a golden retriever and a german shepherd..the only kind missing that I really want is a ST Bernard..:) But, these little ones do steal your heart, and if my hubby would let me, I would have more of them..I think I will always have at least one yorkie..:) |
I am also in love with the breed. Yorkies have eyes that can just melt your heart. That little cocked head, and that mischievous sparkle to those black eyes can touch me like nothing else in this world. Independence is funny in a yorkie. They have the spirit to be independent, but usually their whole world revolves around their special person. They have a capacity for love that is unequaled. If you remember the thread about the yorkie that was lost for so long, and was found in a very loving home with a truley kind gentleman named Lewis; you will recall that even though she loved the new owner very much, her heart was forever with the family that had lost her. Yorkies love forever, with out boundaries. There is a saying on here that I wish I could be the person I see in my yorkies eyes, that sums it up for me. God sent us yorkies to be a mirror into our souls.:) |

Tissy, Your Life Will Be Whole Again!!!! Sincerely, |
I was always called the Pug Girl because we had two pugs (my lic plate says 2pugzs) but since they have passed we wanted something small, compact and non shedding (son has terrible allergies)hubby and I both agree we will never have any other breed. They are so addicting!:aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
I don't think now I can live with out a yorkie:eek: :aimeeyork |

I think they are the cutest dog. They are cute when they are pups but also as an adult. I love their small compact size and also their loving personality |
I love the fact you get such a huge personality in such a small package! cheeky, stubborn, naughty, loving, I love EVERYTHING about the yorkie not to mention their beauty and i love Toy breeds especially:) |
If you live WITH a Yorkie who needs a therapist!! :D |
What is it about a Yorkie 4 Attachment(s) I, also have had many pets, poodles, cockapoos, maltipoos, maltese(that I dearly loved R.I.P., Kojak, he was my husbands dog and went to work with Rod everyday and several years ago he started bleeding from the penis, took him to so many Vets, even the University of MN. they could not find out what the problem was. My husband was diagonised with prostate cancer. He started treatment and during that time he called me one day to come pick up Kojak because he was bleeding a lot, took him to a different Vet and they found that he had chewed off the end of his penis. After Rod was cured, Kojak was cured. BUT!!! Getting back to MY YORKIE, there is nothing like this sweet, loving, smart, mischievious angel that cuddles with us every night and knows when it is time to go to bed, WITH MOM and POP. :yorkiesar :happyboun :happyboun :we're #1::2popkorn: |
2 Attachment(s) ...don't have words for it...these pictures speak in ways that I don't have words for....hook, line, and sinker! :D |

for me, i was always a big dog person and when i found yorkies, it was like my whole life changed (cheesy i know, but true) i think it is the personalities they have...all unique and all special...they are small, furry PEOPLE, not dogs, pets, etc ;) |
Because they are so human-like. No other can compare to them.:p Also, there is nothing more stubborn than a yorkie. If they don't want to do something, then there is nothing you can do to make them!:D |
I know EXACTLY what you mean!!! I have had many different breeds of dogs throughout my life, and I loved ALL of my babies dearly, but I have to honestly say - BREED WISE...NONE of them compared to a Yorkie. There is just something sooo incredibly special about this breed. It is by far my most favorite, and I have never fallen in love or bonded with a another breed of dog like I have the Yorkie. I (of course) love their look, I love their BIG personalities, their character and their spunk :p I also love how loyal and loving they are towards their owners - or should I say, their mommies and daddies :p And I LOVE their gorgeous, beautiful coats :) Not to mention, Yorkies are smart as a dang WHIP!! I guess the better question would be, what DON'T I like about the Yorkie? And that deserves a very simple answer - absolutely NOTHING! :) |
I've had many dogs in my life, but the Biewers and the Yorkies steal your heart. There are some new show pictures are up on my website now under the tab labeled "show pictures". |

I grew up with toy poodles in my family and they are wonderful dogs. But this darn little Yorkie -- I don't know what it is. This is the first dog I've had that was exclusively mine. I was at first drawn to Yorkies because of their beauty -- but the little stinker has won me over to the breed with his feisty little personality. I call him "Little Mister Bossy-Butt!" I adore him to distraction! |
I've had a lot of dogs, and with my Yorkie, it was just so easy to get attached to her... She from the beginning was just so special. She was so delicate, and lady like, but she just had a great personality, just like a person!!! She is funny, goofy, sweet, and she just has the best demeanor of any dog I have ever had. Plus, she is just so attached and loving. With a Yorkie you get all the benefits of having true love, friendship, and enjoyment without getting yelled at, beaten, or backstabbed... lol. |
Yorkies stole my heart years ago when I saw my very first one. I saw it and said, I want one of those! I knew instantly that was the dog for me. So when I was working and had my own money, I bought myself one for my birthday. It was so wonderful to be owned by a Yorkie!:p I love the way they love you. They are so loyal and loving. I like the way someone put it on this board in another thread, they are "up your butt"...:D Sometimes a bit annoying, but most of the time, I just feel so loved and wanted. Another human being cannot give such unconditional love as a Yorkie can. They have a special place forever in my heart. :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa |

i totally agree especially about the stubborn part, Belle is super smart, and she picks up tricks quickly, but she hates having her paws touched, since she was a puppy...therefore, she will not "give paw" or high five or anyhting that has to do with her paw! waht a little stinker:p |
