Does anyone else's yorkie do this?

When hubby and I woke up this morning we went out on the porch and there was a fire somewhere you could smell, it wasn't close or anything...but Jasmine was out there with us and whenever she smells smoke she starts freaking out until we go inside with her even when we cook or anything but she gets herself very excited and Im wondering do you guys know of any ways to calm her down I hold her and talk to her but it doesnt seem to work...

I think dogs instinctively recognize smoke as a dangerous thing. We had a beagle that was always petrified when the self-cleaning oven was cleaning. We couldn't do anything short of taking him out of the house. Maybe you could take your little one away from the smell for a few hours.
