When taking your babies in public...

I was the one that posted about the lady reaching in my car to pet Carlos and he was in a harness on a leash. I just can't believe some of the things I hear and it makes me really scared to take him out now that I was in a situation like that.

My brother and I drove to VA to visit my other brother when we found out he was being sent to Iraq. It was a last min trip so we took the dogs! My boys were 13 months old at the time. Well we out one night to a club and my little bro met some people who worked on his base at the club and invited them back to the house to party! Well I went to sleep eventually in the living room on the floor in a sleeping bag and both my babies were in the bag with me. I woke up at 7am with a woman banging on the sliding glass door and I looked up and she was holding one of my babies! I jumped up, opened the door and grabbed him and she said that her friend found him in the parking lot huddled under a car! She remembered seeing me come in with them and brought him back to me! Apparently the only thing I could think of is, after I fell asleep one of my babies got out of the bag and when one of the 'party people' left in the middle of the night, he must have gone out the door! I am sooooooo GRATEFUL that I still have my baby! God knows what could have happened. It was really that lesson that taught me to NEVER let them out of my sight for a second and to never trust that ANYONE will worry or watch them as well as I will!

Oh my! what a scare! what a shock that must have been to wake up to that woman banging on the door holding your yorkie!!
I learnt so many lessons with my first yorkie, Heidi, I was only 19 when i got her, I now have 7 month old Pixie, the apple of my eye!

Im pretty protective when it comes to Meka. Because I too have read many of the same stories you have about Yorkies. The last time I took my daughter and Meka to the park, I had to carry something, just to feel safe. My husband usually comes, but didnt that day...And I couldnt even enjoy our walk to the fullest because of the constant fear of having to protect my dog & my daughter. Infact, just a few days ago we hit the park again (w/ hubby this time) and ran into a group of guys with a Yorkie too. And after conversing for a few moments, one of the men warns us to be on the look out because people do anything for these pups.... Just sad that this is such a problem...

I always have a good hold on the leash when we're out and about. It's hard not to be paranoid when all of these yorkie kidnappings are happening

After reading all these posts, I won't leave my house without deadbolting it first when Tucker is home. I used to only lock the reg. lock during the day and deadbolt at night. But now I'm afraid of people breaking in and taking him.

That was smart to have him on a leash Im so glad he was ok, just your story and Kims really made me think WOW, you can be RIGHT THERE with your baby in your arms and STILL someone tries to snatch them! Even your arms alone is not a safe place. its sad that it comes down to this! It makes me mad that you cannot even have a dog without living in fear of someone just thinking they have the RIGHT to take your family member
