| ![]() Finally, my vet's office started microchipping. They are using the Home Again system. Sissy had an Avid chip, but Angel was not yet chipped - so when we were there Friday for Bordetella vaccines, Angel got chipped. Home Again has a national registry that you pay a one-time activation fee of $10 for. This registry provides notification to your vet's office if your pet is lost. But - they also have another program where for a yearly fee of $12.95 for the first pet and $10 for each additional, in the event your pet is lost, you call the hotline and they send out notification to all local vet clinics and shelters and provide you with a list of the same. They also have a website where you download your photo and a flyer is printed and send to these same clinics and shelters. You can also print and post them. They also provide a 24 hour emergency vet hotline (which normally charges $55 per call), and if your pet is lost and injured while lost, up to $3000 in medical expenses. And, according to my vet's office - your microchip does not have to be a Home Again to register for this program!!! You can find more information about the Home Again program at their website; www.homeagain.com.

| ![]() My younger cat, Sophie, has a Home Again microchip. I paid the $10 plus the $12 for their service. And Lacy has an avid chip, but Home Again will register their avid numbers too with the $12 fee so that you can still use their services. I hope I never have to use it but it's a great option to have if you ever do need it

| ![]() I paid $10 or $15 for Lacy's chip to be implanted because I had it done at a rescue group's chip clinic when she was a puppy..a vet actually did it though. My cat's chip was implanted at my vet's office for like $30.

| ![]() When I had Sissy chipped at the shelter, her Avid chip was $20 total. For Angel's Home Again at the Vet, it was $50 (most vets charge $80) plus the $10 activation fee, plus the $12 yearly program.

| ![]() Does the dog have to be put to sleep or is it like a local? I was thinking about having it done to my dog, since we are going to Florida next month. |

| ![]() It goes in between the shoulder blades. It is a hollow needle that allows the plunger to inject the chip under the skin. Neither SIssy nor Angel made a sound when they got theirs!!!!!

It's a Yorkie Thing Donating Member | ![]() Lambriar Vet aka: lambert Vet Supply will sell these to breeders for 2 for $20.00 if you call the 800 number and ask. The scanner (if you need one is about $250.00) any scanner will read the home again chip and home again chip can be read by most scanners. heres a link: http://www.lambertvetsupply.com/ If you can give a vaccine you can insert these chips they work the same way.
