| I was hoping to hear an update by now...I've been thinking of Patti and Dixie all day! I hope and pray the vet misdiagnosed the problem and it's something easily fixed!

| Update Patti's computer is actually not working and in repair right now. She may come online from her family's house later today... maybe. I talk to her every day.. sometimes a couple times a day. So here is the update as people might be really worried about Patti and Dixie. She went to the specialist.... and they said that Dixie has an advanced kidney failure after the test. They will figure out several medicine that Patti has to give her ongoing basis. A good thing is that Dixie doesn't seem to know that she is sick. So things might not be as bad. Patti also met a lady with a yorkie at specialist's office. Her yorkie also has an advanced kidney failure. But it has been 5 years since the diagnose. So the right treatment, yorkies with advance kidney failure can live for long time too. So Patti was cheered by that. So Patti is doing a lot better spiritually, and ready to give the best life that Dixie can get I also want to make sure to mention. The breeder... that Patti got two yorkies from including Dixie, has been calling Patti ongoing basis last few days to check in with her. The breeder was very upset with the news and has been offering options that she can offer to Patti. Patti might not take the offer but she is also feeling better about the relationship with the breeder too. I am just so glad about that. I feel that breeders cannot have all healthy dogs... some dogs can get sick. It seems like what happened to Dixie was something that she was born with it. There might not have been the way to prevent it as well. I am just glad that the breeder didn't ignore the fact, but faced with the situation and have been communicating with Patti. I am sure Patti wished the healthy dog, and it is upsetting.. but as a friend, I know for sure that Patti can give a great life to Dixie. Dixie also has a gang of Cari, Pixie and Maya who are going to be there for her as well.

Thank you so much for the update. I am so glad to hear that Susan is offering Patti options. I just hope the options are that she will pay Dixies medical bills. I, too, have a Yorkie from Susan. My tiny Kia is 9 years old. Please tell Patti we are all praying for her & Dixie. Sheila | |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Hi thanks everyone for all the support and prayers. I have a computer for now not sure if it is fixed for good or temporarilly. Special thanks to Erin and Michiko for posting for me. I am just getting over the 2 week flu so I haven't been able to get to another computer. As Michiko said Dixie has congenital advanced kidney failure. Her kidney's are small and hard and function at about 25%. The specilaist is waiting on 2 tests reults that had to be sent out and will call me tomorrow night at 9pm. He was much more hopeful than the regular vet and said he could make no promises but he treats patients all day with degrees of kidney failure, she will need 7-8 medicines a day, which just blows me away but depending on how she tolerates the medicines determines her prognosis. One thing is Dixie is so young whereas KF usually occurs in elderly dogs so I have no idea how long she has with me. But she will be spoiled royally and loved to pieces and the best vet care I can give her. She is absolutely the sweetest little girl I have seen. Every morning she climbs up on my chest and lays her head under my chin and just lays there for some loving. She will most likely never be abe to be put under so she cannot be spayed and I live in fear that she will hurt her leg or something else, but I am taking it one day at a time. Her breeder has been very supportive and in no way would have known Dixie had this. The only reason we found out is I thought it was strange that her urine on the pee pad was clear not the least bit yellow and she always peed and then peed again in 1 minute. Her urine has no odor either. I just wanted to make sure there was no problem so I took in a urine sample and it wasn't normal so the vet said if I wanted we could just wait and see or do lab work, thank God I opted to do the bloodwork. I never in my life thought I would get the call saying she was in kidney failure and nothing could be done. I am so glad I didn't listen to him and asked for referral to a specialist. It was so hard to not be able to come on here to my YT family during all this but I thank you so much for all the prayers they do help. I will update tomorrow night if I have a computer if not I know my dear friend Michiko will post for me.

| Patti, I am praying that Dixies young age will be in her favor, because you are right, it usually occurs in older dogs. My 1st Yorkie died of kidney failure, but the medications did prolong her life. (She had other health issues that didn't help, a heart murmur, etc.) I met a lady at the feed store yesterday, who has a Yorkie that is in kidney failure, but is doing great on the meds. Dixies personality, sounds like my Kia's (also from Susan). And they even favor each other, with the tiny baby face and sweet eyes. Dixie is very blessed to have you. Someone else may not have noticed the signs in time. I am so glad that Susan is being supportive. I'm glad you posted, we've all been worrying and praying. (That's an oxymoron, isn't it?) Hugs, Sheila |
