| Neutering? I just called my vet to see how much the procedure and everything that goes with it is because I have decided (i think) to neuter Oliver. What I am wondering are what are the ups and downs of this situation and is there anything that I need to know before I go into the procedure from those of you who are more experienced with this situation. This will be the first time that I will have neutured any pet (all my others were neutured before purchased).

| Make sure your vet does preop bloodwork. All surgery should be done on a heated surgery table because toy breeds lose heat so fast. He should have an IV catheter for the surgery and the best anesthesia (isoflourine or sevoflourine) should be used.

| Yes, that is preop bloodwork. An IV catheter is an IV put into a vein before surgery. He will get fluids through it and it is an emergency line in case something goes wrong.
