| My Bella howls. For the longest time, she didn't bark, not at all! All she did was howl. Now she's learned to bark but it's still pretty quiet. And she only howls when she's worked up about something or 'protecting' us -l- Bella also talks to us.

| Jaya (6 months old) is completely silent. She never speaks...ever, unless she is wrestling with her toy or now with Jenna, and so she either growls or barks once to assert her authority. Jenna (10-11 weeks) on the other hand, is SO LOUD. I thought we were lucky with Jaya cuz she was so quiet... but its great to have a guard dog cuz thats exactly what Jenna is....... she hears our car drive in and immediately becomes alert and barks, and if someone walks through our yard she goes crazy barking and alerting us. I have a question... can yorkies be silent as Jaya is? People think this is not normal.... |

| Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Jack sort of howls. It's more of a roooo roooo, but it's the only cute thing that comes out of his mouth. The rest is yapping.

| Smokey is pretty silent. He has the lowest sounding growl... you almost can't hear it and he rarely barks. The only time he barks a lot is when the kitten is around and when we are at petco/petsmart and he wants to play with another dog. Other than that he might let out a bark maybe once every couple days.

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | There is only ONE person who can get Wylie to howl. One of my hubby's friends makes this funny noise at Wylie and it makes him howl - it the cutest thing EVER. I just LOVE it but we can't get him to do it - only this friend can!

| I have a 9 year old male that I have only hear bark a couple of times his whole life. He is just a sweet, quiet, laid back Yorkie. Some of his offspring have inherited his quiet disposition and some haven't. I don't think it is anything to worry about, consider it a blessing. |

| The only time Bonnie howled was when I left the house with our other dog and didn't take her. DH and DS thought it was hysterical and videotaped her instead of comforting her

| I've only heard my wee dog Sparky howling along to music! It's adorable - whenever my son plays his recorder or mouth organ, the dog kind of 'sings along' by howling. The howling stops when my son stops playing. Sometimes we all have 'howl-alongs' - great fun! So I'm thinking they don't only howl when they're sad..... Oh, I love my boys..... |
