| Teeth...HELP! Bella is almost 9 months old and has an extra set of canine teeth, just on top (I guess her baby teeth did not fall out)! They did not notice this when I had her spayed a while back, or maybe her adult teeth were not in yet. I feel sooooo bad that I didn't notice before now! It is not real noticeable, but I did a double take while brushing her teeth and was shocked!! Please help, I know this is not good....is it too late to have them pulled?? I feel like such a terrible mom, this is my first baby and I'm still learning. How will this affect her?? |

| It's not too late. Is is a shame that they didn't do it when she was spayed. I would contact your vet to determine when they should be removed. All mine had to have them extracted so you are in good company.

| This is very common in Yorkies...fyi, some vets will do it when spaying and others do not like to do this as it requires longer anesthesia and is basically the stress of 2 surgeries at once. (I don't necessarily agree with this, but have received this opinion from vets). |

| Lacy had 4 of her baby canines pulled at like 7 or 8 months of age.

| I am worried about this with Bella too, I don't think she had lost any baby teeth yet but I don't see any adult ones either and she is 6.5months

| Pixie has two rows of teeth too...she looks like a little shark! she has four canines! I'm waiting till she gets nearer to a year old (she's nearly 7 months) and i will assess the situation then...i suspect she will have to have quite alot pulled, but we shall see...she's only around 2 and a half pounds so the anaesthetic scares me to death...i want to get her spayed too but i'm too scared to go and make that appointment! I know alot of Lil yorkies do fine with the teeth pulling & spaying but i just want to wait & see if she grows a bit bigger and puts on a bit more weight.

| I give mine LOTS of things to chew on and play tug-o-war with them as much as I can. Hoku is 13 months and finally lost her last one on Christmas Day, while Kalani has one more to go!

| Lucy (about 3 lbs. then) had 4 baby teeth pulled at 6 months when she was spayed. Monkey (barely 2 lbs) had ALL of his baby teeth pulled at 6 months when he was neutered. When the big dog (Moses) was neutered a few months ago, the vet wanted to pull a couple of his baby teeth. My husband said no! I'm sure they came out. He chews on everything including tin cans. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | A Record It seems to be a Yorkie phenomenon! Porsche had 16 baby teeth pulled when she was around 11 - 12 months old. She looked like a shark as well, with two rows of teeth. The vet said it was the most he had ever pulled from any puppy. I wonder if I had waited, would they have eventually fallen out. All I know is that I knew a nine year old little boy once with two rows of teeth like that and I didn't want my baby to look like that!

My Little Man! Donating Member | My baby Maxi who is 11 months now has one baby tooth. My vet told me he can take it out once i ll neuter him. He said if by this time the tooth never fell out it wont so it needs to be taken out otherwise it will harm the adult teeth because of the tart build up and stuff. I dont think its late for your baby its just will have to go under for that procedure.
