| Oh so carsick! Everytime we are in a car for more then about 5-10 minutes Keeley gets really car sick and throws up. It breaks my heart. I used to get car sick as a kid and now how horrible it is. On Sunday we went for a drive and he threw up 3 times! Today we went to the vet he threw up right when we were about to pull into the drive way. We are going to be moving in a couple of months and that will be a 2 day drive. And I love being able to take him places with me. What can I do to help him not get so sick? Also for those of you who do have carsick dogs what precautions do you take, so it wont make too big of a mess in the car? (Or on you-- MY CASE TODAY!) |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Poor thing...I have never had that problem with my girls - but I know vets can give you something for car sickness...I don't know if NOT feeding helps cause it could just be a stress thing - I bet you get lots of advise and I'll be curious too what could help with this - but I just wanted to say - I hope you DO find answers - that's hard worrying about your baby and trying to drive at the same time.... |

| We don't have this problem...but maybe it is like humans. If he can see where he is going would that help? Maybe try getting one of those car seats that boosts the dog high enough that they can see out. |

| Hi! When we first got Muffin (1991-2005 - avatar) she would throw up after we'd been in the car for a short time. It was motion sickness. Just don't feed her or let her drink for awhile before you get in the car. How old is your puppy? If you have just had your pup for a short time, I would think that she will stop. Muffin did. It didn't take very long at all. |

| My Katie use to always get car sick. Don't feed your baby 2 hours before you go for a car ride. Just give them nutrical. They will eventually grow out of this - a least Katie did. Good luck!!

| How do you have Keeley in the car? is he loose, in a carseat or in a crate? I think keeping him in a crate facing forward might help. He will be in his secure place. He can't see much so it won't make him sick, and he can't run around getting himself all nauseated. Just a suggestion. But I hope the poor baby feels better soon. I used to get car sick as a child and it sucks. Just knowing that one movement will make you sick to your stomach...ukhhhhhh

| Miko used to do this all the time when he was younger...We couldn't go 5 min or 2 hours without him throwing up, but we HAVE to travel a lot because our families live 2 hours away. One thing that helped A LOT was directing the air vents towards his face. For the precaution part, bring a towel or a blanket to lay down on your lap or wherever he sits. We never gave him dramomine or any sedatives because with as much as we travel, he'd be drugged all the time! We took him for short trips whenever we could to get him accustomed, and then of course we took him on the long trips. For long trips, we bring his little bed and his favorite stuffed animal and put it in the backseat. We have a very small backseat, so it doesn't move at all. He mostly sits with me with air blowing in his face, but sometimes he wants to lay in the back. |

| We purchased a carseat at Petsmart for a little over $20. Maggie is safe, can't jump out, and can see out the window. She has never been sick in the car, since the day we brought her home at 8 weeks old. I was told if they can see out the window, they will be fine. It was true.
