| The vet is a great idea! However, if you are posting here I'm assuming you can't get to the vet. When was the last time the puppy nursed?

I don't know if it is the same with yorkies, but a friend of mine had a similar situation with his cockers, the litter was so big that he had to hand raise one. He said the vet gave him a formula supplement that you mix, and he bottle fed him. He made it through just fine, don't panic yet, BUT IT AIN"T EASY and it's an around the clock job.

with my smallest one, I had to put him on the nipple and then sit there and guard him so the others couldn't knock him off.

Get some formula and try to feed him yourself, he needs to be fed every couple of hours. Try to get him to suck off mom if you can. I feel for you, I had this happen just a few weeks ago. It turns out my puppy had a congential defect, but that isn't always the case. Also, make sure he is kept warm. Wishing you all the best with your pup. Martha

I recently had a puppy.. it was the same problem she wouldnt nurse.. there is a product called Fading Puppy... it stimulates their appetite.. it saved her, it only takes a drop... I used it twice.. she is doing well now!!! I know you can get it immediately..... Best of luck... B

You can try to let him suck a formula such as esbilac out of an eye dropper at his own pace, don't squeeze, watch for milk coming from his nose. Don't feed him if he is cold, warm him first. Stimulate him with a warm cotton ball after you feed so he will eliminate and be sure to feed him every two hours, but definately put him on mom first each time, nothing compares to mothers milk. If he won't latch on you can put a little spit on a tit and that usually helps.
