| Tini used to hate her face being brushed or combed too. What I did is started slow. The first time she let me put the comb near her face I gave her a treat. Then I waited a day and then kept trying until she let me run it through one time and again gave her a treat. It took a while, but now she likes being combed and even lets me do it without treats. Hang in there and have patience and just keep at it and keep giving treats!

| Hi And Thankyou For That Advise. Another Question Please.. I Need To Finish The Mess I Shaved On Her Face. At Least Fix It And Make It Even... How Can I Do That? Me And My Cousin Did The Shaving . She Did A Pretty Go Job Cause She Knows How To Use The Clippers, She Is A Hair Dresser, But Not A Groomer... So If You Can, How Can We Hold Her Down Without Going Nutso... |

| I had the same trouble with Gracie when I first got her - she HATED grooming. With perserverance and lots of treats, she now will sit almost still during grooming. It takes patience on your part and sooner or later your baby will figure out that you are going to do it no matter what hopefully stop acting out during grooming. Do you have a razor comb to break up the mats?

| I am a professional groomer. The more you try to force the dog to get groomer the more it is going to hate it and the more problems you are going to have in the future. Take your time and be patient. I myself wouldn't reccomend a muzzle since muzzles stress dogs out. |

| There was a thread with a detangeler that had calming herbs in it maybe that would help. I brush them at night when they are tired.

| Sometimes a treat helps them tollerate the grooming. Make sure that you are VERY careful with the razor comb so that you dont get the dogs skin in there. Experiment with different things to see what works best for you. ANd once you have all the matts out make sure that you brush her everyday or keep her shaved all the way down so that you dont have to worry about matts anymore. |

| I only gave treats at first to get her used to and accepting of grooming. Now, I only give a treat if I have a really bad matt to get rid of and I just think she needs some diversion from what I am doing, but no, I do not give them anymore as a rule.
