| People need to realize that ALL petstore puppies come from puppymills and backyard breeders (mostly puppymills). petstore employees say their puppies don't come from puppymills...always saying they get them from breeders (sometimes "private" breeders or "local" breeders). Well, of course they aren't going to admit to having puppymill puppies. They wouldn't make any money if they did. And if you think about it, puppymills are breeders so technically they aren't lying...but the breeders they are buying from ARE puppymills! We have got to continue to educate people. Maybe, just maybe, one day these mills and petstores will get shut down!

| I think I mentioned this a while back but my two oldest granddaughters (age 9) love to go see the puppies at Petland when they come to my house for a sleep over. Anyway, there was a darling Yorkie there and we asked to hold her. She was as cute as could be but it was obvious when we took her to the little private area they have to view the dogs that there was something wrong with one of her legs. I mentioned this to one of the Petland employees and she tried to tell me that the dog was fine but that she was just 'tired' from being handled so much that day. I kept pressing her and saying 'no, there is something wrong with this dog's leg'. She did EVERYTHING she could do to try and convince me that the dog was fine. I finally said (and loudly I might add) that how can you people try to see a $1600 dog that number one, comes from a puppy mill and number two, is injured?" I added that "Most people don't know where these dogs REALLY come from and that places like Petland should be ashamed of themselves for dooping an unsuspecting public with their inferior dogs." Needless to say people were looking at me and must have thought I was a crazy woman but too bad!! In the "E" report they did mention that these pet store employees are told never to mention anything that might be wrong with the dog and that should make up reasons why a dog might be appear to be sick. It's hard to convince people that most pet stores have puppymill puppies and they should steer clear. I know someone who wanted a dog EXACTLY like my CoCo. I told her she would never get an exact replica but offered her Pam Hinkle's name who was the breeder I got CoCo from. Well, long story short, several months later, Pam decided to sell CoCo's brother from the same litter. I called this woman and told her that this was the closest she would get to one that looked like CoCo. She contacted Pam but then decided she really wanted a female and went to a petstore and bought a female Yorkie there!! Mind you, that was a couple of months ago and this poor little girl had kennel cough. Do you know that many, many trips to the vet later, this dog is STILL sick!!! Yes, she got her little female, but she got a sick dog in the deal. It's just so sad.
