| Cottony Coat Ok, I would like to know how many people with cotton coat Yorkies have long hair? I have one with a nice silky coat, doesn't mat, nice and shiny and one with a cotton coat that mats easily if I dont brush her every day. They haven't been to the groomers in three months, hair is starting to get long. Was going to take them to the groomers tomorrow they are having a lot of snow and ice pellets stick to them. I guess what I'm asking is you people with cotton coats, do you prefer a shorter cut? Also, their longer hair is keeping them warmer. I don't know what to do! If any one has any cut hair cut pictures, please advise.

| You can grow a cotton coat out but you must take them to the groomer regularly and you must comb or brush them every day. I also use a very good shampoo and conditioner on my girl with the cotton coat

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i have a cotton coat girl. she mats when her hair gets longer. its a pain to keep up. i keep her shaved down in the summer and let her poof out in the winter. her hair is two inches long and sticking straight out all over. in the winter i keep her chest and pits shaved to prevent mats.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have one cottony and one silky. Silky is a dream to care for. Cottony one I had the groomer thin her out a few months ago and it is much easier to groom her now. But Cali does have allergies so she scratches matts in a lot. I still like the long hair so I groom her every day or so.

| Belle has a cottony coat, and she has long hair... i don't want to do the puppy cut bc i think she'll look too skinny... she goes to the groomer about once a month and i brush her with a spray conditioner and then comb out her hair, it's not her favorite thing to do, but she's gotten used to it.

| Cottony coat Thanks for the advise everyone, I appreciate it. Well I dropped them off at the groomers and they are going to do a face, feet pads and privates cut. I guess I will wait until springtime and maybe get them cut shorter. Where can I get that groomer detangler you guys are talking about?
