Sorry, but I am mad today This morning I and my hubby went outside and on the way back decided to stop in a couple stores. He had to go to Costco, and since I cannot take Jess there, I asked me to drop us by Ross store. I have never had situation like that before. HORRIBLE Service. No MANNERS at all, not even basic business communication skills are represented. I have been a Ross' customer for years since I can always find a bargains there. I am not happy about those stores (they usually filthy:eek: ), but I am OK to shop there sometimes because of bargains. Today they were unbelievable rude to me. I always shop with my Jess with NO problems at ALL. My dog is very intelligent and well behaved. She was in STROLLER that always is CLOSED inside any stores. The security guy SAW how my hubby was dropping me by the store, how my husband WAIT for us for a few minutes until we were gone inside the store. And after my husband left, he REFUSED me to come inside. As a result I was waiting for my husband by the door for next two hours:eek: . On front of security guy  When my husband came back, I went inside, asked for manager to show a store policy, and I was refused. She absolutely cannot communicate with customers. She interrupted me and didn't care a word I was saying. Plus, she made fun of my husband when he said "you should be shame of yourself to keep this women with small dog outside" . On top of that, she told me something that dogs are OK in the store unless they bite people or something like that.... I don't know who is responsible for hiring people like that in that store, they should be shame for doing that, but I want to complain. Actually, I did already. The manager told me sorry on the phone, but I answered that I will speak to her manager. I am not that type of person who accept this service  What guys do you think? |
gee, that's horrible!! I wouldn't be going back to that store again. How rude.. |
I will not go there anymore, but I still want to complain. I am lucky, it was not too cold outside...:( |
i always look for a sign or sticker on the doors indicating that pets are not allowed before I take maggie in. if anyone says anything to me about having maggie and there are no signs up, i make sure they know that i will not leave quietly. they need to have posted signs. i would complain too. not just about not being able to bring your dog, but how the service was, and how you feel about how dirty the store usually is. |
I agree If no sign is posted I wouldn't go quietly either... And I definitely wouldn't go back. there was no excuse for his rudeness. :thumbdown |
You are right, if I saw a sign, I would't go there. But I've been MANY times in Ross at DIFFERENT locations around and NO ONE told me anything like that. |
I would be calling the main office and complaining. |
If I wasn't stopped by security guy just on front, honestly, I didn't care and went inside since no sign there. But he just didn't let me inside. The only reason I regret that I was waiting for two hours for my hubby. As a result, he got upset (btw, he NEVER ever shops there). he said : cheap store - bad survice, just don't shop there. period. |

I would by pass the store manager and call corporate and complain to them. It is the holiday season and alot of those employees on the floor are holiday hires. I have a friend who is a manager at a major dept store and wanted to know if I wanted to help her out for the holidays because they cannot find qualified customer friendly associates. She said they are scraping the bottom of the barrel this year:( |

exactly. When I called to the store later, she was trying to explain something, but it was too late. I didn't let her to say a word and told her that this time I will speak with main office. However, I think this is a typical for stores like Ross:mad: . They have way too many complaints and nothing change....:( |
I would be the same way. I dont bring Roxy in alot of stores BUT you had Jess in a stroller zipped up. What is Jess going to do to them. I would love to know the store number and manager. We should all ban together and complain to corporate. Start a petition or something against Ross from YT to send to them. |
971-732-6712 paul rich it happened in Kirkland, WA |
My sister is an attorney and we are getting together tomorrow to decorate our parents house. I am going to ask her about this. She isnt hot headed lawyer ready to start cases but I just want to ask her about it. She is a dog lover too a mommy to an english bull dog Otis who turned 4 yesterday. I can JUST bet that the sec officer is a big dog owner and prob just wanted to make a joke out of you. The fake security officer and the manager should all be fired and esp her making remarks about your hubby being gone for 2 hours. |

Kirkland huh? That is a nice area, I grew up in FW. All the Ross stores in my opinion have really gone downhill. We have a couple in my area and they are all dirty and a huge mess. I just go in there occasionally to poke around. |
I am not taking this so serious way, but just a complain, nothing else. however, I just would like to know my rights. as, I am sure, all of us. WHY they didn't show a store policy? If nothing said about pets in a store policy, WHY they didn't let me inside and will they be punished? that's all:cool: . thanks :) |
Well, I guess I am a little opposite on this as I can see bothe sides of the story. But, most stores have a strict no animal poilcy that is overlooked by friendly employees that know their customers. I understand that there was no need for any rudeness towards you and your husband, but, a majority of the stores world wide have a no animal poilcy except for service dogs. So, maybe the security guard was trying to enforce the rules...and also how did he know that you were going in that particular store? Is that the only one in that part or is it a strip mall? (Please don't take this as being rude, just trying to understand the situation a little better). |
I sort of always assume that animals are not allowed, no sign posted or not. It's kind of like the "no shoes, no shirt, no service" rule in my book. It isn't posted, but you wouldn't go into a store topless :p. I am guilty of bringing Mckenzie into a store or two with me like Jo Anns or Marshalls if I am just running in and out and I've never had a problem, but if they asked me to leave I would understand. If I need to take her somewhere I always call ahead and ask (except for the few times I've run in places). It stinks we can't take our babies everywhere, but really if they let one person do it... they need to let others do it. I was in Jo Anns the other night and a woman had her dog riding along in the shopping cart. Now to me, this was fine. I ooh'd and aah'd.... but I could see how to others that would be unacceptable. Not everyone is a dog person. I'm sorry if you were treated rudely, but they were probably just trying to do their job. It's sad but many people don't have a high customer service level, or he may have had a bad day and have not explained himself well. |
I'm sorry they were rude to you :( I usually take Lacy almost everywhere with me too, and I've only been stopped once at Target when they quit allowing pets. But I've never had a problem anywhere else. |
Grrrrr......... how upseting. Some people just shouldn't be in customer service! :thumbdown |

I do understand about animal policy, but I am upset more about customer survice;) . Recently, a security lady didn't let me inside IREA store. That's fine. A sign on the door "only service dog", but I didn't see it. |
I think there is a huge difference between a dog being zipped in a stroller or a carry bag and one just being walked into a store on a leash. I don't see how a dog that is zipped into a bag or stroller can offend anyone??!? People rarely even know Kalina is in my "handbag" unless she makes noise. That's just MHO. I also think that power goes to the head of some people and they like the fact that they can say NO and you have to abide by it. |

I would leave with saying nothing. |
I would call and I would write a letter. If no sign is posted I don't see why you couldn't take your pup in! |
sorry, for some reason i cannot make a poll:( . because of this discussion, i would like to see how many of yorkie's owners go shopping with their babies. I would like to see %%%%%, not just answers.... . I will appreciate it very much if any of you can do this for me. I would like to see following options: - I love my yorkie, but never take her/him with me to shopping. Dog is a dog, and should't be in any stores. - I take my yorkie everywhere with me, even hide sometimes if pets are not allowed. My dog in stroller/carrier inside. - I take my dog only to those stores where dogs allowed. any more options? let's make a POLL :D ;)  |

that sucks what happened to you - especially if your baby was in a stroller - man - talk about being ANAL |
thank you all for responses, no matter agree you with me or not. sometimes it is good to hear other opinions:) . |

I would just assume that dogs weren't allowed unless otherwise stated that they were. Although I don't think it was necessary to big rude, I don't see what the big deal is? What exactly would you like from the situation? |
Send a letter I wouldn't put up with that kind of customer service either. We are there to spend our hard earned money! Without us, they wouldnt have a paycheck! Here's what you do. Get the address to the corporate offices and send a letter of exactly what happened to you. Explain exactly what she said to you. The manager needs to be reprimanded by her superiors. Customer service is not what it used to be!:thumbdown |
I like to shop at Ross for the bargains, but the associates are awful. There's always a long line, and if they get any slower they'd stop. I only go there if it looks pretty empty. If the line is long I usually just leave my cart, and leave the store. |
