| Need advice on the automatic feeder Does anyone on YT use Automatic timer feeder for any of thier babies? I am thinking about getting one just in case i get stuck at work some days and i don't want them to be starving. I don't want to free feed them either. I usually come home for lunch since it's close enough but i want to try doing the timer feeding thing. any advice is welcome. I only need it to feed them dinner. i have to handfeed them their raw food for breakfast spoiled little princess. but they get kibbles for dinner. thanks everyone!

| My husband uses automatic feeders outside with his beagles in their kennel but they are not on timers and basically work the same way as free feed. they eat when they want to. why don't you want to free feed? That's what I have always done except for my mama and puppies. They get extra meals. But I am retired so it isn't like I am away from home. |

| hi dee, how are you? i usually feed them dinner around 5pm when i get home. but there are days where i get stuck in traffic or at work. i want to try free feeding but it will be hard for me with their potty schedule..lol..they eat really good breakfast and really good dinner also so i don't want them to over eat during the day. oh, gracie and tumi are like blood sisters now..they love each other so much..they just cuddle and play together constantly. its funny! we were at our in law house over the weekend and we put them in the same bigger crate to sleep and they cuddled every night together..so cute. oh, guess what!! gracie is walking on the treadmill really well now. well i bribed her with lots and lots on yorkie yummies

| Automatic Feeder Bumping this up...I'd love some feedback on automatic feeders, if anyone is using them. I don't want to free-feed because I'd rather have portion control. I'm gone from 8 am until 7 or 8 pm, and my Yorkie only gets one walk at night, so leaving food out all day sounds like a quick road to obesity. |

| Your schedule sounds similar to mine. Although General Lee does get out in the morning for a walk as we do not have a yard for him to be in. We walk about 5 in the morning. He always eats right after he walks. When I get home in the evening he walks again and then eats. If the weather is not to cold, we will get one more walk in before bedtime, however, right now with evening temps down in the 20's plus wind, the evening walk is changed to chasing a laser around the house. I have never used an auto feeder and my concern would be obesity. I think there is a feeder that you can do portion control with and it has a timer. Skymall.com has a portion control feeder that is on a timer. They also have one that keeps the food covered until the timer goes off. Then the lids slides away and the portion of food is there. Hope this helps. |

| The one I have for Lady has the dials on top. Lady figured out how to dig at the feeder until the top pops up. She can get it to pop up in about a minute. That's what I get for giving her Buster Cubes and Twist and Treats. She figured it was another treat dispensing toy. This is the one I have: Petsafe Electronic Pet Feeder,Automatic Dog Feeder,PF2-19 This one might work: 5 Meal Automatic Pet Feeder - New Kitten Center - Cat - PetSmart |
