Don't know what to do... 3 Attachment(s) SORRY... LONG POST As some of you members know or heard of... I am in the process of adopting Turtle and Duckie. They are a pair of adult yorkies from another YT member. Well, I first wanted them here before the holidays, but right now it's not an option. It has been a really slow season for my business and I have a lot a bills that are due and needs to be taken care of. I recently had to pay my employees and part of those funds were suppose to go towards payments of Turtle and Duckie. My shop's rent is now due, so the remaining balance have to go to that first. So, now I have to wait till the holidays are over to make any payments. Well, the problem I have right now is... I have followed up on a yorkie that I considered adopting like 4 months ago (before I ever signed up on YT). Recently, I saw him on the ads again. He is now 10 months old. I must say, he is GORGEOUS and always has been. I don't know why he was never bought. So, I just called the guy and asked about him like why was he never sold. Well, he told me he decided to keep him, but now feels he has too many dogs and can't keep him. He told me he wasn't a breeder a long time ago. Well, I just wanted to take a visit last night. I had no intentions on getting this yorkie, but right off the bat, I fell in love with his face. The sad thing is, that guy turned out to be a backyard breeder :mad::mad:. The poor pup was dirty and smelled really bad :(. Obviously, they didn't even cared for him. In my heart, I knew I had to get him out of there. He has already been bred and father 1 litter =(. So, I wasn't really thinking and told him I'll take him. I had 700 on me, which was SUPPOSE to go to my bills. He was originally asking for 800. I just couldn't leave that gorgeous baby there with them. The saddest thing, they only called him "man". They look like a nice family, but seems like they only cared about money. Right before I left his place, he told me he was breeding biewers. He showed one of them to me and poor thing was all GRAY!!! He was so dirty! I asked if they were even going to miss him, but they didn't even care. They didn't even say yes! *sigh* Well, on my way home, I couldn't take "MAN's" smell anymore. He really stunk!!! When we got back to my place, I discovered he still had his dewclaws :eek::eek: and they were soooooooo long that it curled like a pig tail. Poor thing must have been in pain when it was growing out! So now, I have 4 yorkies and 2 more in the process! My bf is really upset with me, but he doesn't understand how it is for a yorkie mom. WE DON'T LEAVE ANYONE BEHIND!!! I am going to take him to the vet asap today. I know that he can be unhealthy or sick especially where he came from. So the problem is, I don't know if I can adopt the other two now. I live with my boyfriend and he's already not approving of this new one. I am trying to rehabilitate this poor baby. Obviously, he was never loved. I am already in love with this little guy, even though he's not listening to me lol. He is starting to adjust to his new family. My babies are starting to accept him. First night, he was trying to mount all of them lol. Then my babies finally took action yay! He is getting more LOVE than he ever will have living with me. I haven't taken any pictures of him, but I will post the ones from the ad. What should I do guys??? I really want to adopt Turtle and Duckie, but it's way too much for me to handle now. I am already attached to the new guy, but my boyfriend wants me to get rid of him.:confused::confused: I am so sad and confused... SORRY SO LONG!!! |
I wish I had advice for you, but I don't. I know how much Turtle and Duckie need a home, and if I could take more dogs, they'd already be here! Only you can know how much you can afford and handle. |
OMG he is so cute- I can see why you fell in love. Poor little boy looks like they're choking him to get the picture though.:( I don't know the story of Turtle and Ducky or who their owner is. Would the owner be upset if you backed out? Six yorkies would be too much responsibility for me but only you know what is best for you. Good luck! |
Don't get *addicted* to something you can't handle. Although it is nice that you rescued him, you are also helping a BYB keep his business going while your own is barely making it during the holidays. I'm not saying you're a hoarder, but this might be the start of it if you don't think about the reprecussions. Also, your boyfriend is an important person in your life. You don't want to hurt a relationship over a new dog in addition to the ones you already have and need to take care of. Although it is not necessary to get the other two yorkies, think about who is going to help you out instead of adding to your liabilities...Your boyfriend is already very understanding about you getting two adult yorkies. You need to realize that an unexpected fifth, and one that you can hardly support and pay for, is going to really put you under. Had you not gone to see the poor puppy, you would still have $700 in you pocket so that YOU can get by. Although I completely applaud you for rescuing the little guy, you also have to think about yourself and if you'll have enough for your business, employees, family, and holidays. In the end, it's your decision. But I wish you luck and lots of love!!! |
Well, he is a pretty little dog . You have had the other two on hold for quite awhile now and couldn't pay for them according to you, because of your bills but you spent that money on this dog. It seems to me that the person selling the other two will not be happy with you at all. I am sorry and feel for your situation and maybe I would have done the same thing about thinking he needed to be rescued. But, if i didn't have the money to pay for the other two, I never would have been even looking at another one. Now, she is going to have to post the two she has all over again. As a breeder, I, myself, would be upset to hold dogs for someone then have them tell me stuff came up and they couldn't pay for them and then read on a message board that they had bought another one. Good luck with your boy, He really is cute as can be. |
Wow I dont have any advise either, Just a friendly hug and prayer for you. The one thing i can say, something my hubby always has to remind me, you cant have them all, or save them all, I hope things work out for you. |
If he has been used to breed, he will lift his leg, are you wanting to deal with that?? |

I really do understand where your heart was at when you rescued the little guy, but I can also understand that Turtle and Duckie's owners will likely be upset since they've been counting on you to adopt their yorkies. I know that if it were me, I would be upset too. I'm not trying to be mean at all, because I've acted with my heart more than once when I probably shouldn't have, but was it even a good idea to add the other little boy or Turtle and Duckie to your family if you are financially struggling? I have 4 and the bills for small things alone REALLY add up. If something major happened I would have a very hard time getting them the care they need immediately. I know I might get comments for that, but it's true. I'm in no way financially prepared for a disaster if one was to occur with one of my babies let alone 4. I would get them the care they needed somehow, but it would likely put my under financially. I know what's done is done, but what I would do is apologize to the family that you were supposed to be adoptiong from and understand they will be upset most likely. Take good care of your yorkies you have now and wait till you are in a better place before adding anymore. That's just my .02 :) |
I dont have any advice for you, but wanted to say hes a cutie and Im glad you was there to rescue him. Im sorry about the other two an dthat those owners will have to repost their sale ad. But To me its better that you didnt get them if your BF is already mad about you bringing it just the one. better that they find a forever home then to have to be rehomed yet again. |

Well I just looked up the thread and it looks like you only signed the contract 8 days ago so it's not like she's been holding them for you forever. Did you pay a deposit? If so I would think she would be okay with keeping your deposit and releasing you from the contract if that's the way you decide to go. Have you contacted her? |

I HOPE all of you YT members aren't mad about the choice I have made. Like I said, I wasn't thinking. I am waiting on Lee's phone call today. See what we can work out. Maybe, I should rehome this little guy. I'm pretty sure my aunt will love him. At least, I will still be able to visit him. As for now, I'm doing my best to rehabilitate him. Thanks for your inputs! |

Maybe the idea of your aunt adopting the little guys could work and you can still take the brothers. good luck on your decision! |

I don't have any better advice than what everyone else has already posted here. Giving him to your aunt or selling him to her would be a fantastic idea! |
you will no the right thing to do..honestly I think Man is supposed to stay with you God lead you to him for a reason...Just like he lead me to Maggie I just knew it was right thing to do by taken her in to my home..Man belongs to you!! good luck |
I'd keep him, and get rid of the boyfriend.:) |

I'm not in your shoes so I don't what you're going through, however despite your good intention, I don't think it's the right time for you to adopt more babies. God forbid, but what if you and your bf broke up. Would you be financially capable to handle all the yorkies on your own? If the answer is yes, then do what your heart desire. But if you can't, I don't suggest you adopt anymore furbabies. Always leave room for a rainy day cause you never know when it will happen. Nothing hurts more than having to rehome a baby cause you have no other option. As for the other two yorkies you were planning to take in, I'm sure the breeder will be upset, but I'm sure they will find another good home for them. In the long run, it might be better for you and the yorkies and that's what counts most. |

Well, I first want to say that he is really cute! I certainly understand why you had to take him... However, I dont know too much about your situation... except that you live with your boyfriend (that already feels upset w/ the # of pets you have). I understand that your a very caring person (thats commendable), however it seems a bit selfish of you not to consider his feelings on the matter. Most likely your splitting bills or what not..... So, what if the pets become such a problem for him that he opts to leave. If your already in a financial pinch with your business, what will happen if your left with full rent/util to pay? Can you afford to tend to all that and 5 yorkies too. I mean, my vet bills for one can be extreme sometimes, let alone 5? And lastly, I do think it to be a little unfair that you already commited to taking 2 more and now you have to back out because of this spur of the moment decision... If you step up and commit to do something, ANYTHING... you should always follow through. I think its only fair to think of the family that thought you were gonna help them, and how they now have to continue on the search of finding a good home for their pups.... Regardless if you were'nt their first option, you were the one who inquired and its unfair to use that as an excuse... JMO though... Best of luck to you.... |

BTW.. my boyfriend actually seems to be okay with him now. When I told him about this post, he was actually bothered by some of the post. |
