sharks in Texas????

I love all animals but I'm also not naive. I realize animals have defense mechanisms, I would just prefer to be the one not to instigate them. Animals get scared and hungry and they will attack no matter size, habitat, or type of animal. As a result of shark attacks, I am now afraid of the vaccum in our pool

Wow be careful everyone in Texas. There were a couple of bad shark attacks in Florida recently.

Careful you guys that are in Texas. There are alot of shark sightings and shark attacks here in Florida. Just be careful...

i knew that. i find shraks to be very interesting and they are beautiful too. most of the people attacked are on surf boards or out in too deep water its not always the shark's fault. don't get me wrong i wouldn't exactly run out into the water when i see a shark but i think they are like pitt bulls. they're just given a bad rep because of a few things gone wrong.

Don't feel too bad Nobella - after watching JAWS I was afraid to take a shower alone for a month!!!

LOL I know! I had to make my mom (I was living home at the time) sit in the bathroom on the toilet bowl until I finished! I am a HUGE fan of sharks but totally scared of them. I love to look at them but they scare the poop out of me!

Stiches- I know it must have scared you to death watching your son pull that shark in- but it really is a cute story! I think the thing that those of us in Texas need to worry about more than the sharks are the flesh eating bacteria in our bays! I have been hearing a lot about that lately! Now that is SCARY!

wow i'm not going swimming in texas anytime soon killer sharks and man eating bacteria aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
but seriously that is really scary because you can get sharks off and hit them in the nose. bacteria is just there!!!

Many years ago, I was living in a small town in western PA and was planning a vacation to Virginia Beach for the Bicentennial. I made the mistake of seeing the first Jaws movie four days before I left. I spent 5 days on the beach there and never went near the water. For swimming, I used the hotel pool. Never been in the ocean since, not me, theres big things in there. And I live in southern California in Orange County LOL.

i love the ocean..but deep down i have the "shark fear" . i know that more than likely i'm not going to get attacked or anything..but hey ya never know!!

You nailed it. They do get a bad rep. It is so unlikely for them to attack a human. It really is rare. Its just so crazy when it happens and we hear about every incident which makes it seem like a lot. Since they get a bad rep like pitbulls maybe we should rename sharks the "new dolphin" to soften thier image HA HA
