| brought home my puppy last night I am so thrilled. I just got a yorkshire terrier yesterday. She is the most beautiful little girl!!!! I love her so much already. She is a tiny little thing. She is 15 weeks old and weighs 1.8 pounds. She is so sweet and gentle. I am wondering one thing--- her wonderful breeder told me she is a finicky eater and is she ever. She is a little thin and didnt eat her dry food so I mixed a small amount of wet food in and she ate a good amount. Should I keep this up? I have nutrical that I give her too. Im just a bit nervous with her being so tiny and she is picky foodwise. Thanks for any info and advice. Oh I havent picked out a name. Ive got a few and Im just kind of watching to see what fits. I have Stella, Lola, Daisy, Molly, Bindi, Katie- I will post her picture as soon as my husband give me the digital camera THANK YOU |

| Congratulatons. I will advise you to mix puppy dry food with the wet. Even if you have to dampen the dry a little. However, she needs to be OFF the wet food. Wet food will rot their teeth. Maggie was exactly like your baby when she was younger. I almost ruined her with human food. She wouldn't eat anything. YT members got me on the right track. Now Maggie eats dry only. I started her out on Royal Canin 33 Mini puppy food. It is very tiny pieces. I have never seen puppy dry food in such small pieces. Maggie loves it. You might try it. The members here told me to put the dry food down and she WILL eat. It took a day of no eating, but after that---get out of her way---she's heading for the kitchen.

| Welcome to you and a big congratulations on your new little girl. Yeah for you on trying wet food to her dry to help her eat. That is wonderful. Since she is so tiny and weighs so little if she wants the wet/dry by all means go for it!! I love the names you have picked out so far! And look forward to seeing pictures of her.

| Hi and welcome!!! Congratulations on your little girl! I would just keep feeding her as you are doing since she is so little. Then maybe later on after she has adjusted you can get her to switch to dry. Good luck.

| I fed Copper wet and dry food in the beginning and gradually weaned him off as he started eating well. He is now only on the dry food. Good luck...enjoy your baby girl.

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Congrats...you are very lucky to share your love with your new little puppy!!! I would tell you to make sure she is eating, even if it a little wet and dry...without eating she will get sick...we have two very picky eaters and we still put just a little bit of wet in their dry to get them to eat, as they have gotten older we have just put less and less until hopefully one day they won't need any!!! Yorkies are very stubborn and want they want, so just give her love and time and she will come around....

| That's wonderful, a new puppy. I had mine strickly on Science Diet Lamb and Rice formula when they were puppies. A little one like that probably will take one nugget at a time and likely will play with it before eating it. It isn't like the commercials when the dog is running and gulping food. I stayed with dry food for several reasons, tooth decay, runny stools to name two. However, it is so important for her to eat you might try one or two Cheerios a day as a treat. When mine were small I actually broke the Cheerios in half. I am not a fan of wet food, but the experts on this site will give you good advice. All the names you have are good but one of our members lost her Molly, if she doesn't object, it might be a nice gesture to name yours Molly in her memory. Just a thought. |

| Natural balance You might try the natural balance roll dog food. It is not as soft as the wet, just slice and dice and mix with the dry. That is what I feed my boys all the time, also try warming the food just for a few seconds in your microwave, finicky eaters seem to like it warmed up a bit (both wet, roll and dry). Good luck. |
