Wow! That's about as high as I've heard personally for a pup. You must have taken great care of him! My condolences, but you also should be very proud.

In my avatar, Sophie (long hair (5 yo) & short, silver haircut taken in December '06) was 13 when she went to the Rainbow Bridge on January 2007. She had been with me since she was 14 weeks old. Dearest Charlie will be 11 in '08, and since I don't know his birthdate, we will celebrate on the day he came to live with me - April 14, 2007.

The wonderful thing about seniors is they are still just pups in their heart but move a bit slower. Last night, I thanked Charlie for coming to live with me and sharing our senior years together. Warmly, Deborah

PS He finally gives kisses back and willing to snuggle up on the sofa.

Thankyou so much for your kind words! looking back, out of the 6 yorkies that I have been blessed with, he was my easiest one! 4 went to the rainbow bridge! My rocky who was a brother to Blake went from thr couch to the bassinette in 1987 and gave Paige who was an infant then(almost 21 now geesh, memories come flooding back}quite a bite on her forehead! she needed 4 stitches if I remember correctly! It came right out of the blue. I knew Rocky was not happy with me, was jealous, but not that bad. X hubby went balistic & when we returned from the er, he insited I give Rocky away. I had a friend who gladly took him. I was so sad. I dont think Rocky meant to bite her. He was 2 then and lived to age 14 with my friend Carol.

Our first yorkie Kenji lived to be 18, we have his birth and health records to back it up. His vet was always amazed at how good of shape he was in. He ran wide open right up til the day we finally made the decision to put him down. His heart was still strong but his legs would give out on him and he would lay crying waiting for us to pick him up. It was the hardest thing we have ever done, I pretty much grew up with Kenji by my side.

I think he lived to be so old because of how active he always was and he was never overweight. He also dranks loads of water , not sure if that helped or not.

Our second yorkie Kassie will be ten this coming July.

WOWZA!! I was just talking to my boyfriend last night about how I was sad that Beau was reaching the end of his years...I was WRONG!! I guess I was thinking about the lifeline of a big breed doggy. Beau just turned 7 in October...and he is as fiesty and spunky as ever!! No signs of aging yet!

I am so sorry. He was a lucky boy to live such a long happy life loved by two women.

This thread is the best thread by far (THAT I HAVE READ SO FAR).

It really gives everyone a look into what their future may hold.

Yorkies are very special and to have one for 19 yrs or even 1 day can make a person fall in love hard.. knowing that a little dog or puppy can fill ones heart with so much love.. is TRUELY A BLESSING..
I have read posts on this site that let you know the people here LOVE this breed .. And for those that do not have yorkies reading these posts, I know that THIS site would make me get one right away!!!

Once you are Yorkified... You will KNOW.... what Yorkified is!!!
