| New Puppy Questions I am getting new puppy and she is now on Science Diet food.. I have been researching and am thinking of changing her to Eukanuba Yorkie Formula. When should I change her over ? How should I change her over.?? Also, the breeder said she needs honey once a day . How much and for how long? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks... | well first congrats on your new little girl the food she is on.. and the food you are changing her to are not very good food. You should look at this website www.dogfoodanalysis.com you want to get a 5 or 6 star food... both Science Diet and Eukanuba have a lot of fillers.. things like "bi products". Food brands such as SOlid Gold, Wellness, Merricks, Fromms are great! And the honey every day eh... that's odd... sounds like she is using it to keep her blood sugar up.. but "needing" every day would make me worry a bit... how big is she do you know?? the sugar in the honey will bring her blood sugar up but it tends to be something you only need ot use once in a while.. i'd be asking her what is wrong that she needs it every day... she should be feeding enough during the day to keep her blood sugar up... |

| she could be using the honey... for allergies. I know that I used raw local natural honey to help with my westies allergies. Maybe she is already starting to show signs of them and hope this helps to keep them at bay. As far as food goes, I am going to switch Crickett to Solid Gold after she comes home. She is also currently on Science Diet. I will leave her on SD for a couple of weeks after bringing her home to help with her adjustment to being in a new home. I will then start with 1/4 new 3/4 old food for about a week, 1/2 old and new for about a week, then 1/4 old 3/4 new for about a week untill she is fully on Solid Gold. The slower the transition, the easier it is on the puppies tummy. Good Luck, I know how anxious you are to be getting your baby!!

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | Hello and welcome! I agree with Marci, Eukanuba and Science Diet are not very good. I use a Holistic brand and my yorkies have such beautiful coats! When you see a dog that has dander, it's usually the food they are eating. You need to really do some research on the dog foods, you will be surprised what they put in commercial brand dog food. Why did your breeder say you need to give the puppy honey everyday, to me that's a red flag! How old is this puppy? We are here to help you, so if you have any other questions, please just ask! |

| bacteria I wonder if honey is not bad for a puppy like it is for children under what? 1? or 2? I know it has some kind of bacteria that make babies sick or can. I would use nutrical... but why is she letting it go to you if it still needs nutrical that often? I mean I recommend people get it in case a puppy has trouble adjusting (I even usually give them a part of a tube) but they shouldn't need it at all if I am selling them. Hmmmm seems worrisome at least...but I don't want to scare you... just check it out. |
