New Member Introduction - Safiyah
 

Hi, my name's Safiyah, I'm from Longmont, Colorado. I'm new here, though I've been on for a few weeks, this is my first time posting. I am 38, currently single, and planning on getting a Yorkie, though I'm not sure when.

First I want to learn more about Yorkies, and second I want to make sure I'm ready for a Yorkie. I have to Yorkie-proof my home, find a vet, and I want to talk to the vet, to make sure they're taking new patients, etc. I want to research the breeders well, to be sure I'm getting a puppy that's well socialized, healthy, etc. I'm hoping I can find a breeder in the Colorado area so I can visit them, get a feel for things, and talk to them BEFORE I get the puppy. LOL, you'll probably laugh, but I have tyoed up a 4 page document filled with questions I want to ask potential breeders, all from information I've picked up. (I'm a bit of an analyzer, can you tell?)

I'm a nerd, I love to learn. I love reading, I've been doing it ever since I can remember, and I've read all kinds of books on dog-training, and yorkies. This site is a wonderful site, filled with information, stories, and lots of people who love Yorkies.

My kind of place. So I thought I'd say hello. I'm very excited about getting a Yorkie, and have even picked out the perfect name if it's a girl. Not sure about the boy name yet, but if I end up with a girl then her name will be Patience (grins)

Anyways, forgive the long post... I'm happy to be here.

Welcome, you will love it here and always check the yorkies for sale post to get an idea of whose who here. You'll find members with yorkies in your state and information to top breeders. Always check the American Kennel club for information to. One day I was online when I first joined and I clicked on every topic just to see what it was about.:) I played with the smilies and clicked on more and found a cazillion more smilies to express my thoughts. :thumbup: There are so many helpful people here and in the yorkie products for sale section, you can find a lot of good stuff. I find nice things in the garage sale to. A lot of members make outfits to custom fit your pup when you get him/her and they have online stores. We'll enough of me typing here, enjoy the site as you can see I have.

Thanks again for the warm welcomes. I truly appreciate this site, there's so much information here, it seems like everything is covered, not only for those like me who have yet to get their puppy, but for everyone who's already got one. Wow, this must have taken so much time (and love)

Truth is, I love the name Patience, what a wonderful reminder for me as well... I still can't find the right name for a male, but sometimes the puppies name themselves.

You've come to the right place for "yorkie talk." Yorkshire Terriers are such sweethearts and cuddle bugs, but true to their names, they are terriers!!!!:)

I know it may sound corny, (then again, maybe not) but I'm looking forward to the whole thing. I'm looking forward to training (which I hope to turn into play, make it fun) I'm looking forward to housebreaking (which hopefully will have already been started) I've got a "bedroom" all planned out, complete with doggy toilet, crate, waterbowl, food and toys. I don't have everything bought yet, but I've got it all planned out. I plan to make her/his bedroom a fun place to be, but I'm also looking forward to going places, trips, walks, bike rides (I plan to get a basket for her/him to sit in, with a cover and everything) and playing and snuggling.

I look forward to the food, the "accidents" (which are bound to happen) I look forward to learning how to groom her, and brushing her every day, and brushing her teeth. I'm looking forward to the "tests." I'm looking forward to playing with her/him, and watching her play by herself. I plan to get her fixed, I'm looking forward to puppy classes as soon as she's had all her shots, I'm hoping to find a "small dog" puppy class, cause I have no intentions on her becoming lunch for a dog who's sorely in need of training.

We have dog parks nearby, I plan to wait till she's had all her shots, but I really want to walk with her. Here in the Denver area there's a group of Yorkie owners that get together for "play dates" and I want to join in on that. It sounds like fun.

Anyways, I know everything doesn't happen overnight, it takes work, it takes love, and it also takes patience (hence, the name.) There's so much I want to do, I'm looking forward to every step with her or him, and a bow in her/his hair that I put there myself. :D Like I said, corny.
