Thank you, I've done alot of research on it. I have browsed briefly through the regional pages and the for sale forum, but I'm not yet ready to get my puppy. I want to learn a bit more first, and I hope to find a good breeder around here before I buy. There's so much to learn, there's alot to be responsible for in such a tiny furball. :D I love it! Hi & Welcome to YT! All I can say is there sure is one lucky pup out there to get such an owner as you:D Wish all YT owners were so informed before they make that commitment. This site is full of the best of the best, people and advice! Enjoy!:) |
I waited a long long time to get my yorkie, and I would daydream about what it would be like, and I have to say that it is WONDERFUL! Welcome to YT! :yorkiesar :welcome4: |
You guys are sweet. I'm not exceptionally smart, just a really BIG nerd who's very excited about getting a Yorkie puppy. I want everything to be perfect, but I also need to know what I'm getting into. This puppy will, health willing, be around for about 15 years or so. That's a serious committment. I want the choice to be a good one for everyone involved. I want to be prepared, and I want to know what to expect. I guess I want that peace of mind that comes with knowing what to expect, and knowing how to handle most situations. Then I can spend those first few weeks focusing on my puppy, and the time thereafter helping my puppy to grow into a well behaved, well adjusted, well socialized dog. I don't want vet visits to be traumatic. I don't want car rides to be nauseating. I don't want my going to work, or going shopping, or going anywhere that she may have to stay at home to be emotionally traumatic for the dog and draining for me. If and when the dog misbehaves, or, more accurately, makes what I would consider the "wrong choice" to a situation, event or person, then I want to know in my heart that I know how to respond in a way that will reinforce good behavior. I know life is never stress free, but I want to do my best to assure my puppy learns how to handle stressors in life without emotionally, physically, or mentally damaging the puppy (or anyone else, for that matter) Geez, I sound like a commercial. Sorry, guys, I'll get off my soapbox now. I'm just really, really excited about getting a puppy. It's going to take a bit of time yet before I'm ready, but every day I get more and more thrilled. After deciding to get a dog, my first thought was Yorkies, because I've known more than a few which were very well behaved, well socialized dogs. They got along with other dogs, and they would readily accept most people. This proves that the old stereotype about Yorkies is not necessarily true for everyone. So I decided to learn more about Yorkies and about dogs in general, to be sure of my choice. The library has become my friend. I have read so much already, but still have so much more to learn. The one thing I know, though, a Yorkie is the right dog for me. :D So thanks again for the welcome. Yay for Yorkies! Safiyah |

It's actually transliterated from the Arabic name, which means "pure, serene, untroubled" :D I had it legally changed years ago from Madonna. (for obvious reasons) Safiyah |
