| Is he deaf? Well as some of you might know. My fabio is adopted. We believe he is about 5 years old. No one can tell for sure, but most have said five. Anyway, I have been noticing that he might not hear very well. He is always attached to my side, so when I walk away and he doesnt notice, he freaks out and starts looking for me. Ill be standing right near him, but maybe behind something, and saying his name and hell walk right past me! But the thing that startled me the most was when I went out the front door the other day and left him inside, he was waiting for me by the door. But I came in through the garage, which is behind the front door. I saw him looking for me, and I started to call his name. Over and over. He just kept looking out the front door for me. Only until I clapped my hands did he turn around and see me. So what are your opinions? Do you think he may be deaf? Or slightly deaf? Does anyone know if there is a test the vet can do to find out?

| You can test! Put a squeaky toy in your pocket and squeak it when he isn't looking. You will know right away if he can hear it or not! Welcome to YT!!! We always love having new members, especially those with such uber cutie puppies!!!

| I had a deaf dog many years ago. She was a pup and wouldn't come when I called her...did't even acknowledge me. When she was asleep, I hit a cymbal with a drumstick and she never moved! I had her for many years and she learned 'sign language'. She was very special. RIP Thunder (hug)

| I think my sisters maltese is deaf...you can call and call and she wont' come, or if she's sleeping and you touch her, she jumps like she's scared..I told her a long time ago I felt she was deaf...She woulnd't be able to do the squeaky toy though(although, that's a really good idea), as she has 5 little ones in the house, and about the time she would squeak it, the other 4 would come, and the other one I'm sure would follow.. |

| Um Im not sure, I know I talk about it alot, cause I am a big advocate of adoption. But I can tell the story right quick. I had always wanted a yorkie for as long as I could remember. My boyfriend couldn't afford one, so I got a cat instead. While I love my kitty, it just wasnt the same as having a dog. When I was making my move to Thibodaux (for college) my boyfriend asked if I wanted to stop by the pound. OF COURSE! I said. So we went in, and I saw him. My poor baby, with long yorkie hair and in a cage with too many other dogs. They were peeing and pooing on him! It made me so sad. I told them I wanted him right then and there. However, they couldnt give him to us cause they have to wait a week to see if the others come back. I really didnt want to leave him, but I had to. A week later and after plenty of people came to the pound and wanted to take him, my boyfriend went and got him for me! He bathed all the poo and pee off of him and started the long process of brushing his long blonde hair! Luke said he looked like Fabio the model and the name stuck. We ended up cutting off his long hair though! But he has been the best dog in the world. He was already trained, he hardly ever goes in the house. He is so loving and follows me everywhere. I never knew why people were so attached to their dogs, but now I know. I am completely sad without him! And thats my story! Sorry its so long!

| Aww that is such a sweet story! You are so lucky! Not all of us stumbled upon our yorkies so easily, although my BF was the one who helped me get mine, too!
