I've never heard of plucking the whiskers for grooming purposes. But if that groomer's proffesional, he/she should've asked you if you wanted it done. I know I have yelped ( ) because Pickles' whiskers pokes while she's giving me kisses. I'd rather get all "yelped" out than have her go through the plucking(which sounds painful).

| Dont they need those? Dont wiskers help with thier senses or something? I know they do with cats and other animals. I would think that dogs have them for some sort of reason. I watch too much animal planet and discovery channel .And about watching your groomer- I think thats a great idea. I am still a little scared to take CHloe to the groomer so I havent yet. But I have seen the groomers at pet smart and they always look like they are being mean to the animals. I have seen some be very mean. It scares me.

They clean the face of many breeds to show them, like Doxies, hounds etc..but they cut the whiskers off. I have gotten them caught in a fine toothed comb and they cry when the whiskers is pulled out..then it grows back like a wire.

I took my yorkie to the groomers twice and both times she shaved his nose( I didn't like this) and around his eyes. I have been trimming him myself for about 6 months and he looks okey but I am afraid to pull the hair out of his ears ( don't want to hear him cry). My vet said it wasn't necessary to pull hairs unless they got an infection. I don't want to take him to any groomer but am worried about his ears. Any advice would be appreciated. I didn't mean to get off topic. I don't think you should pull whiskers.

I cut those coarse whiskers that always seem to be 2 inches longer than any of their facial hair. I did Remi's ears today-if I don't pluck his ear hair, he gets the worst gunk and the hair stick together. He is the world's biggest cry baby so I do one ear at a time with him. He doe okay with one at a time.. They need to be pulled for health reasons,,
