Dogs v. kids I was noticing how much getting Pita ready to go to work in the morning is like having a kid. I have to pack her lunch, get her toys together, make sure we have pee pee pads, brush her and put her hair back and then she goes in her carseat with me to the office. I love it!!! I have had 2 girls and didn't realize how much I missed taking care of them. Of course Pita doesn't whine at me or lose her homework or oversleep.... Maybe I should have had the dog first?? |
Oh yes I have totally noticed this...Every morning Bruce and I get up, I fix his breakfast and get ready myself while he eats and plays with his toys. Then I brush and dress him for the day, pack his lunch, and take him off to daycare and he rides in a carseat too. When I pick him up I go over how he did that day with his "teacher" and it is off to put him down for a nap while I fix dinner. I do not think I will ever have children, but Bruce is my baby and I am sure I love him just as much as I could love a real child, so I will settle for yorkies!!! |
Mine are always up and ready, I don't have to yell 14 times to get up. |
LOL...I say the same thing to everyone having a yorkie is like having a kid...I wake up early to brush his teeth..give him a puppy wipe "wipe down"..brush his hair..feed his breakfast..then I can take a shower....I then play with him and if I am taking him to work..get his "diaper bag" ready complete with pee pee pads, toys, a blankie (for naps), puppy wipes to clean his botty in case it sticks, treats and dishes and food plus bottled water |
. I Dont Have Any Human Children And Most Likely Wont... Lexi To Me Is Considered My First Child..... I Call Her My Daughter And People Laugh At Me....she Comes First |
I take my son to the park every day and we take Chewy most days to and it is ike packing the diaper bag, nutrical, food, water, etc...You have to start anticipating again, and I never go anywhere without wipes. |
MY baby I don't have any skin babies but having my nephew with me a lot and having Coco with me, feeeeels like 2 kids, especially when I take them both to the store. She wants to get down, he wants candy and I am being the flustered mom in the aisles...hehe...but I love it. Yea getting Coco's diaper bag ready for an outting is at least a 20 minute task, not to mention getting her ready. I'd say I'm well prepared for my own skin babies now. |
Definitely wipes are sooo important in the bag!! Also a spare shirt and barrettes! Nobody would know pitas bag is a doggy bag until they saw the food and and even then it smells like sausage and there's cheese mixed with it like you would give a toddler LOL! |

kids My human girls used to say I cared more about the dogs well being then theirs..LOL Not true..but a sick dog was a bigger worry then a sick child for me...if my child got sick, I had tons of resources to call upon..911, the ER, doctors everywhere and good health insurance that paid for it. The first 10yrs I had dogs the ER was an hour away and not very good vets there to boot. I have never had a child at deaths door, but several Yorkies and it was awful. |
I'm glad to hear so many people refer to the bags as "diaper bags". My friends think I'm crazy when I call mine her diaper bag. I have had Asia only since march but my friends think I have lost it when they see some of the things I do for her. With Potty training, hair cuts, car seats, school and cloths they are just like kids only better. (sorry to those who have real kids:D) |

:D I have laugh, I am the mom of six beautiful human babies and one beautiful fur baby! I do adore all of my kids :p , but they can drive you just crazy sometimes  , esp when you have triplets and another all 4 and under  . Bridget is good she behaves very well for a little one, doesnt whine and complain about who took what toy from her, and doesnt bite, (which is more than I can say about my 3 year old!!!) I love all my kids and would never want to be without any of them, Bridget is just easier to deal with at times. Maybe that is why she is so spoiled. (when daddy and I go out on dates, she usually gets to sneak along.) People think I am crazy to treat my Bridget  the way I do, but yes I am compleatly wrapped around her little paw :p , and I wouldnt have it any other way! |
No desire here either. I have been "fixed" and Asia is getting fixed in 2 weeks. So no being a grandma either. |
I've had both now, my kids are 18 & 20, I love them like crazy and I never would have thought I could have lived without them. I think you can be happy without kids. Mine were not horrible or anything, don't get me wrong, I am grateful every day for my girls.. BUT what I am trying to gracefully say here is.. in this day and age where raising kids, let alone finding a good guy to do it with, is not easy. I can see where dogs would be a perfectly reasonable substitute. Before Pita, I would have never thought it, I have always had big outside type dogs that didn't require the same things as Pita, she's more like having a baby. Now, I can see it and I wouldn't blame any of you for not wanting to have skin kids!! |
Marlee, you have all that AND you are making doggie clothes??? |
Can I say....Supermom!!!!!!!...lol, my mom was going crazy with 2 of us in the house..she was like "yeah please go eat at your friends..see if they will adopt you...you monsters..lol"...she doesn't even know what a sewing needle looks like ... or a pan for that matter...lol |
Sounds like home. My youngest human child is 37, so having Maggie really brings back the memories. By the time I get her dressed, hair combed, pack her diaper bag with toys, food, water and blankie. Load her in the carseat, and make sure the stroller is in the back----well, lets put it this way. I'm not as young as I was 37 years ago, so by the time I get all this done--I'm pooped and sometimes forget where we are going. |
:lol tears :lol tears You are tooo funny Stitches!! |
I tell my children often when they are driving me crazy that they are all lucky I did not discover yorkies until after they were born. I love my human kids to death but I doubt I will ever have to go through my puppy drawing stars on the roof of my brand new car with permanent marker! |

How cute, You guys are lucky that you have a job that allows you to bring your dog. I am so surprised how many people on YT do that. I work at home now so I get to see my babies all day but when I worked at an office they wouod have just died if I brought a dog. |
I am SO jealous! I WISH I could bring my babies to work w/ me!! :( |
