| Should I be worried? Hello everyone. I just tried to post this and it didn't take. Sorry if there are two of these! I am new to yorkietalk. This is my first post and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. I have been looking for breeders and came across one online that lives in my area. We have been emailing for a few days. I found out that she has two little boys available and I asked if I could come by and meet her and her dogs. She said yes but not until Saturday. She also said that she only shows to serious buyers b/c it takes so long to get the parents and the puppies ready. I understand that she doesn't want people stopping by like she's a petstore, but I thought she would be more welcoming than that. I am a serious buyer but that doesn't mean I will buy from her b/c I want to meet her and her dogs first. What do guys think? Is this normal? Any advice? |

| Welcome to YT! I think most reputable breeders will only allows those that they think are serious about buying a puppy actually come to their house to see the puppies. I've seen several breeders here on YT say that they e-mail back and forth and talk on the phone a few times and if they approve the potential buyer then they will allow them to come see the puppies. You may not be positive that you're buying a puppy from this breeder, but she knows you are serious about buying a puppy and has met her qualifications so far The only thing that sounds wierd to me is that it takes a long time to get the parents and puppies ready. I know puppies make a mess so maybe she just wants to make sure their area is spotless, but I don't know why it would take a really long time to get everything all ready. I can understand Saturdays though because most people are very busy during the week

| You may want to ask one of the reputable breeders on here..I know my daughter wanted to go see a yorkie puppy one time down here, called the lady(she had been breeding years), she had no problem with us going out right then.. |

| I think if she keeps her dogs clean and well taken care of she shouldn't have a problem showing them, unless she has plans for that day already I wouldn't buy from her, she sounds like she is making excuses and maybe a little pushy JMO

| Welcome too YT. I would be a bit cautious, but not overly so. I know with Slades litter, his foster mom would try to bath them all before anyone came over and with 5, that was a chore. Its not that they were filthy, but puppies occassionally step in poop, get food on their mouths, etc and she wanted them looking their best when a visitor came over.

| I just met them yesterday and their parents too. They were sooo cute and their parents were pretty too..mabe not show dogs, but still cute lil' yorkies. She was very nice. The breeder's daughter and Grandchildren were there and my daughter played with them. We were there for almost 2 hours! They had two little boys, one was more alpha dog and the other was sweeter and more laid back. We liked the sweeter one and cuddled him the whole time HEE HEE. We did not take him home yet since I feel like this is such a big decision. We are going to talk about it over the holiday weekend and I have been prayerfully considering this little guy. I feel like this is almost as big a decision as having my daughter LOL, except I didn't get to choose her bloodline HA HA! Anyway, she had some pups that had literally just been born right before we came, a girl and a boy. Also, I posted in another thread that she had a maltese female that died along with her pups. Well, I found out that one actually survived and they are going to see if the Yorkie will surogate him. So, if it works there will be 2 little black babies and a white one! Anyway, do you think I should wait to meet the other pups..there is a girl which I kinda want, but I dunno her personality and won't be able to for a couple of months. And the boy seems really sweet.... Whatcha think? |

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Personally if I were selling Id be VERY leary of showing pups to just anyone....with the high theft rate of this breed and all the idiots in this world I'd be scared to death. They could just be coming in to see what the set up is...where pups are kept and a feel for who lives there.....I'm a bit paranoid lol Can ya tell??? But I think its a smart move on breeders part to be so cautious. But i can see the other side of the coin too...may feel a bit odd but I would assume they are being protective.
