				   | Eating the walls For the last few days Empanada has been eating the walls and the door. Any idea why? He used to do this when he was really little but he stopped and now it started again. I woke up this morning and there is a 2" hole in the wall from him scratching and eating it. I dont think its very healthy for him. any ideas how to make him stop? |

				   | I just had to say that I love the name Empanada for your baby! That is just too cute, so original! I just love to eat empanada's! Sorry, I can't offer any advice other than to try spraying the wall with hairspray or bitter apple. I've never had that problem with them eating the walls. However, several other members have, so I'm sure they'll have some great idea.

				   | Mine loves to eat all kinds of wood, the wood frame under my bed and the wood moulding around our doors and the base moulding!! He even eats tree bark and wood chips around the yard... Do they make "wood" flavored dog treats? LOL... then maybe I can get him to stop eating the moulding in my house!! I have to try the Bitter Apple stuff!!

				   | I think I read somewhere that if your dog eats weird things or licks weird things that they may be anemic. Maybe I'm wrong, has anyone else heard of this? |

				   | Bitter Apple got my vote too. I would even soak the wall, baseboard too.

				   | We have a cage for the pups, it protects the walls, baseboards, window sills and the legs of furniture. It is a 4' x 4' fence with no top or bottom. Sometimes I think they chew from boredom. It may also be because of a baby tooth that didn't come out.

				   | Yep, for some reason walls are tempting to them Don't know how may holes I have patched throughout the years. Right now there is one that I have left because I've patched it twice and they still go after it. The last one I patched I had to put cayanne pepper in the patching compound and then they left it alone. I think they smell it because they didn't even lick it at all. What's worse is when they pull the wall paper off and THEN eat the wall ...

				   | I was worried it was just my dog doing that! Keno likes to peel the wallpaper, and I too sprayed bitter apple along the bottom of the wall and he just kept on. He doesn't do it all that much anymore. |

				   | My dogs did that too as puppies. Be sure to have lots of chewing sticks: http://www.pondo.dk/lux/images/72406-s.jpg to offer. Say "no" and offer them a chewing stick instead. When they take it praise them. Good luck! Mette - who learned by getting big holes in her wall and floor...

				   | Wow- good timing for this post Macy was chewing on my antique dining room table. I think it was the first time I ever really yelled at her. After my initial shock, I sprayed it with Bitter Apple and she still is chewing on it I will have to try spray deodorant. I told my husband last night that I should have gotten her years ago because it would have taken away my yearning to have another baby sooner! She is more of a handful than any other puppy I have ever had. Hope everyone has a great long weekend!
