| cats and yorkies... if you have cats, how is their relationship with your yorkie? my cats are pretty much evil with her. since the cats get free run of the house and she does not, they sometimes like to lay outside of her pen and just stare at her. i liken it to a human looking like an animal in a zoo. it's kind of weird, actually. it's almost like they are teasing her because they can go wherever and she can't. they also like to walk on the top of the pen (cats' balance is amazing) and sometimes even jump in there with her to eat her food. we do what we can when we're home to make sure they aren't eating her food and what not, but lord only knows how awful they are all day while we're at work. the only real solution would be to put pixie's pen in a closed-off room so that cats can't get near and tease her. how's your situation? |

| my cat took about 3 days to adjust to Dexter, but the cat has lived with a Golden Lab in the past. he started eating the puppy food, but i started giving the cat "special treats" in the morning and he now sticks to his food. i heat up left over chicken and pour it over his regular food in the morning and he will eat that over the puppy food any day! they play a lot but i always have to supervise because the cat is a lot bigger than the pup, but hes usually pretty careful. my cat is kind of dog like (he plays fetch!) so maybe this has been an easier transition than most cats... i also work from home so the pup is with me all day so there is no time for the cat to "torment" him in his sectioned off room, so i cant give any advice on that.

When I'm at home, Bitsy has free run of the apartment, and then I feel sorry for the kitties. When Bitsy is outside her pen, the poor kitties can't walk around because the minute Bitsy seems them on the ground, she chases them and they run for the nearest high spot that they can jump on to get away from her. So, I think it evens out in the end... | |

| Lucy has made it her mission to see no cat in our house goes more than one minute without a kiss...Seriously, she is stupid over our cats. If they are just hanging out in a room she will go in and hang out with them. If she is in the kitchen (closed off) they will sit next to her gate until we let her out. My cats are older and they tolerate her very well. If she really gets on their nerves they let her know!

| for the most part we are all one happy family! My male cat who passed away this last year, didn't mind who the furry friends were, he would lay with the dogs. When I used to breed Bichons, he would curl up with a litter of puppies. My female on the other hand, is often temperamental about the dogs being with us. But just last night she and Bubba were laying right next to each other in my lap. It's more a problem with my 2 females, Roxie will even growl at the cat sometimes when Madeline (the Siamese) approaches - but then Roxie will be scared off by the cat at other times. I just told them both yesterday that they are really very much alike & they need to learn to get along! They both are dominate females! I think spending time together under your supervision is the best thing to help them become friends!

| I had my cat long before I had my dog, so she sort of ruled the house by the time he got there. She was really mean to him at first. She scratched his lil nose and made him bleed and I though I might have to separate them. But soon after they would run around with each other, I assume "playing" with each other. They never really fought much after that incident. I think Lucky had to show Fabio who was boss. And he was confortable taking a backseat. I think it may have been different if Fabio was a girl. Cause I heard Girl yorkies can be more tempermental!

| My cats and dogs get along with each other great. Lucky, golden, loves all. Cozy, yorkie, adore Lucky, sleeps with Mika (maine coon,), and plays tag with Tallulah, Maine coon. Tallulah, adores Lucky, plays with Cozy, and is evil at times to Mika. Mika, tolerates Tallulah, loves people and Cozy, and bosses Lucky.
