I personally even though I am a groomer would NEVER leave my dog with the groomer without making a surprise visit. I do not want to panic anyone here but there are some really mean groomers out there. I have a lab that comes in for baths every month and his dad told me that when he would take max to the old groomer it was like he was taking him in to be murdered. But now that max comes to me, his dad can almost open the truck door and max will run right in to me. He loves me. But I love him to. I always treat the dogs taht come to me as if they were my own. I think all groomers should be like that. But sad to say they arent. Be careful and ask for references.

| The lady that grooms Teddy is a very nice lady. The first time he was groomed he did wonderfully for them but I did that time leave the store. The next time however I wanted to just hang around to see the process and he saw me and got really strung out to the point she accidently knicked his nose. She felt horrible and I felt even worse so she suggested to me that it would probably be easier for him to not see me if possible. She didn't out right tell me I had to leave but I personally felt that I didn't want this to become something unpleasant for him and being there is that super large window I didn't see anyway that he wouldn't see me. I should have clarified that better in my first post.

| Your thoughts and advice are very much appreciated! I think for many of us the grooming process is something we know little if anything about until we are actually faced with it and even then it is still rather confusing. Thanks so much for your help to make this a little easier to understand as I have read your other posts on this thread and they were very helpful to me.

I don't know about the adult coat, but this I do. Maggie went to the groomer at 4 months. She got a puppy cut which included trimming of all hair, ear hair plucked, lower tummy fuzz shaved, nails, scissor cut on head, face and paws. Her groomer only charged me $10. I for sure couldn't argue with that. I was very pleased, since she was having a major case of spriggly hair.

So we took a day - just me and her - and we went and cold called on 4 different NEW groomers and I let her walk around - meet them - then we left ...after doing this she got over her fear of leaving in the car AND she went to a nice groomer and though she didn't do a great job either - I know I can trust her - We are STILL looking for a good groomer ...Chanel is 3 now - does that tell you anything about how HARD it is to find a good one ? In the meantime - I groom them myself.

| Noah had his first trip to the groomer last wednesday, and I was so nervous all day before hand. You see, my fiance had dropped him off since I got tied up at work. Well apparently the lady at the front desk doesn't follow directions because my fiance told me that he told them to keep him how he was just a little shorter. So when I go to pick my baby up, I wanted to cry. He looks NOTHING like he did when I saw him earlier that morning. They cut my poor baby boy like a schnouzer (no idea how to spell that). He has absolute no fur left. I miss my rough, scruffy puppy. I get upset looking at pictures from before because I can't help but think about how he is supposed to look. I know it will grow out in no time, but I am still upset about it. He has no hair above his eyes at all. I will try to post before and after pictures when I get the chance so you all can see what I am talking about. He looks like a completely different puppy. I still love him the same, but just can't help but hate his first hair cut. |
